As a truck driver stranded by the snow at the port of La Rochelle, I walked up to Café Populaire. Although the establishment wasn't open, the owner kindly agreed to serve us coffee and let us use the restrooms. A huge thank you for this hospitality; I will definitely return as soon as I have the chance!

24/04/2026: We know that it's not feasible to come for lunch when you're working, given the 30-minute wait for our food, so we won't be repeating the experience. Thank you to the waiter for his welcome, however, we had the impression of bothering the person who took the payment.
24/04/2026: Warm and welcoming owners with a genuine passion for local produce that shines through in every dish. Here, everything is authentic, sincere, and made with heart. Add to that the breathtaking sea view… and you have a place in the Port-Neuf district where you simply feel at home, like you're with family. Not to mention the atmosphere on Stade Rochelais match days 💛🖤 This is La Rochelle as we love it all year round ❤️
