Cafe Portebleue sur Verteuil-Sur-Charente

We visited on a hot day, it was good to be out of the sun and enjoy lunch. We had crispy duck salad starter and lamb fillet with a red wine jus and dauphinoise potatoes. The depth of flavour was outstanding! Well done chef, we didn't want it to end.

Highly recommended. On June 2, 2026, we dined at Café Portebleue after visiting Verteuil-sur-Charente. Our visit was impromptu, so we hadn't made a reservation. We received a warm welcome and were shown to a table. The staff was charming and helped us choose from the menu and drinks. The coffees, a decaf espresso and an Americano with milk, were perfect. Our main courses were also excellent: a hamburger and an Angus beef steak, both served with homemade fries. The atmosphere is pleasant, and our meal will remain a memorable experience. A very pleasant restaurant. The welcome was friendly, the dishes and desserts are homemade, and the set menu is only €18 including wine! A must-try for anyone in the area.

I had the most delicious vegan lunch here last week . It was so lovely to be able to eat somewhere with no issues and fantastic food . Thankyou to all staff but particularly the chef who went above and beyond . Will definitely be back!
