I ate here on a trip with people from my school, it was one of my favorite meals of the trip. The service was a bit slow for American standards, but it makes sense from the perspective of French culture. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and were able to understand our (very broken) French (and speak in English when it hurt too much to hear haha). Its proximity to the cathedral is also very helpful as someone on a tight schedule. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chartres.

Magnificent café restaurant, we went there the first evening with nothing to complain about, fast and smiling service. Unfortunately the second evening we were welcomed by a person passing us to another then a third who installed us in a corner for 4 people while there were 5 of us... Less pleasant moment than the day before.

I couldn’t understand the menu, so I ordered the lunch special. You can choose between an appetizer + main dish, or a main dish + dessert for 19.9 euros. The appetizer is yellow, green and red tomato cheese, and the very refreshing pickled tomatoes go well with Q soft cheese; The dish is stewed beef tendon, but only one tendon in the middle is soft and chewy, while other parts are so soft that it almost melts in your mouth and has no meaty taste. The potatoes on the side are very sweet; the dessert is raspberry cheese with ice cream. The performance is also above the standard; in the restaurant next to the church, the service staff are very polite and say "everything is good?!" every time they serve a dish!
