Cafe Soleil sur La Grande-Motte

The food was fine. I liked the calamari entrée. Everything started out really well, but then the service really slowed down. I waited 15 minutes for my dessert which was a cookie.

After a week of having lunch or dinner at this restaurant, we weren't disappointed. The food is good, the location ideal. We had a tall, slim, dark-haired waiter who did his best to serve us. So yes, sometimes the service was a little slow, but like everywhere else, they're short-staffed. PS: Did you ever find the couple who left without paying?

Beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. The set menu was decent. But the service wasn't friendly. We asked three times for a bread basket, which we never received. At the end of the meal, there was no attention paid to our well-being, and we weren't offered coffee. I don't think we'll be back.

Excellent lunch special. Generous portions and homemade food.

A stop for coffee or a snack is fine. But beware of the dust and cobwebs on the chandeliers above the round tables. I would have asked to change tables if I'd been eating... dust ready to fall on the food isn't very hygienic.

Pleasant setting and beautiful view

We went for dinner two nights in a row, a parent and a 10-year-old child, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Mussels and fries with cuttlefish in parsley sauce the first night, then a burger and salmon tartare with guacamole the second. It was very good, the welcome was warm, the service was pleasant, and the setting was lovely.

It was almost perfect, apart from the wait and a few minor details. The cod fritters, mussels and fries, and rum baba were excellent. A couple of minor complaints: the baked apple was served cold! What a shame. The shellfish platter from the €27.90 set menu was disappointing, basic, and minimalist (just a few shrimp—no aioli—and a few shellfish). Nothing to accompany the aperitif, which dragged on! There was a long wait, expect two and a half hours; the waiter was overwhelmed. Not very friendly, but despite the crowd, very calm and attentive, which is a plus. We would have preferred the lovely interior terrace, which was also very pleasant, but it was full. So, given the lengthy service and the uncertain weather, we were rather cold. Be sure to arrive early, as the beautiful view, reasonable prices, and excellent menu attract a lot of people.

A wonderful time at Café Soleil ☀️ Beautiful seaside terrace, generous and beautifully presented dishes. Special mention to the grilled fish and the linguine 👌 And contrary to what some have said… the bald waiter with glasses is very good 😉 Smiling, efficient, and professional. It just goes to show, sometimes you have to form your own opinion! We'll gladly return.
