Cantinallegra sur Auxerre

A delicious meal. The chef certainly knows their flavours and is not afraid to be inventive. We chose the aubergine caviar followed by the vegetable tagine and the tartare de boeuf. All very tasty. The creme brulee was a nice dessert to finish off. The Mas a Tierra, a light, refreshing natural red wine accompanied all the courses beautifully. Service was first class and the price very reasonable. A booking is advised, especially for the outside dining areas, but we were inside which actually worked well as we were away from the heat and humidity outside. We can certainly recommend Cantina.

The menu is enticing. It changes regularly, but this is my first time here. The descriptions for the meat and fish dishes are mouthwatering, and there's a vegetarian option this week. An eggplant parmigiana sounds great, if only it were as well-prepared as the other dishes (set menu at €25 for a main course and dessert). Well, a big disappointment! It was rather bland, lacking real flavor and flavor (compared to my neighbor who ordered the fish). On the other hand, the dessert (rice pudding) was delicious, which I think reflects the quality of the other dishes.

A delightful evening spent with friends last night. I highly recommend the eggplant caviar and the vegetable tagine. Absolutely delicious!

Excellent restaurant with a beautiful view of the Nivernais canal

We were lucky enough to find a table on the terrace at La Cantina. Located on the Quai de la Marine, the terrace overlooks the banks of the Yonne River. It's absolutely lovely on sunny days. They offer a set menu of starter and main course, main course and dessert, or starter, main course, and dessert, which varies according to the season and what's available, as well as a children's menu. Everything was very well prepared, the house wine was good, and the service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. Don't hesitate! A tip: if you absolutely want a table on the terrace, make a reservation 😉

Lunch with colleagues at La Cantina on the terrace. I had specified by phone when making the reservation that we had about an hour, 1 hour and 15 minutes for lunch (main course and dessert), and we arrived among the first at 12:15 pm. The experience was decent, but rather mixed. We waited almost 30 minutes before receiving the fish dish. It was only lukewarm, as was the mashed potato... Another point for improvement: the bread, as well as salt and pepper, arrived very late (just two bites from the end of my fish, which was a shame), whereas these are items that should ideally be on the table from the start of the meal. I clearly didn't have time to ask for the dish to be reheated, etc., so I ate with what was available... The dessert, however, was satisfactory. Nothing dramatic, but a few adjustments to the service management, the temperature of the dishes and the table setup would really improve the experience.
