Chai Benat sur Bayonne

The Bayonne festivities led us to stop for a drink and a few snacks, just to start. We had a very cold beer and sangria with padrones (a type of sausage), rabas (a type of sausage), and ham croquettes, all served by a very friendly waiter. This impromptu little aperitif before watching King Léon wake up was just what we needed; it was excellent. While we were enjoying our snack, we asked if there was still room for lunch and if a reservation was required. We were very glad we did; there was space. So we returned to eat after our good king had woken up. We particularly enjoyed the cassolette of squid and the ham with asparagus. The Axoa (a traditional Bayonne stew) was also very good, and the cheese with its membrillo (a type of sausage), the nougat glacé with its red fruit coulis, and the chocolate cake with its bed of crème anglaise were all devoured. Add to that excellent service with very friendly and pleasant staff, and the picture is complete. We had a wonderful time on the banks of the Nive during the holidays.

Excellent set menu today for 26 euros, I recommend it.

Impeccable service, a super friendly waiter, and they have a great menu and a good selection of beers. If you're passing by, don't hesitate to stop for a drink or a meal with a great view. Thank you very much.

Excellent dinner on the banks of the Nive, warm welcome and delicious food. The manager was very professional and welcoming. The baked Camembert with Bayonne ham was generous and beautifully presented, and the garlic prawns and baby squid were absolutely superb (see photos). Highly recommended.

My wife and I have come for lunch several times now, and it's always fantastic. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is great, and the chef is clearly passionate about his cuisine—it shows in the dishes. I highly recommend it for couples, groups, or families; a very good place to eat on the banks of the Nive in Bayonne.

We had lunch there one weekday evening, during the off-season; there was only one other person besides the three of us. The welcome was very friendly, presumably from the manager. We had a good dinner with well-prepared and quite generous portions for a hearty eater. The wait was, of course, very reasonable. My friend from Bayonne will go back; for us, it's back to the Paris region...
