This restaurant, hidden in the old town of Saint Jean Pied de Port, reveals itself upon opening the door. The waiters are very pleasant, the cuisine excellent and locally sourced, and the service quick.

A traditional and authentic restaurant where everything is perfect: delicious dishes prepared with care and delectable desserts. A very warm welcome and a comforting, homey atmosphere. A restaurant run by a lovely family who love to host.

The entrance, with its typical door, is very pleasant and immediately sets the tone: a very family-friendly, discreet, and warm atmosphere. Laetitia is lovely. Very attentive, offering excellent advice. Smiling and responsive to our wishes and desires.
A joyful and convivial moment of sharing.
As for the menu, from start to finish, a delight of flavors. The garbure (cabbage and bean soup), the gizzard platter, and the porcini omelet were absolutely delicious.
And the wood pigeon flambéed with Capucin cheese? Wow, a unique flavor! The requested cooking method was perfect. The gratin dauphinois was excellent, as were the sautéed potatoes, which were wonderfully crispy.
The caramel buttercream was to die for (just for Laetitia, "kenavo" - goodbye!). The young man who looked after us was also very friendly and kind.
A superb meal. Highly recommended.

Undeniably, the restaurant itself has a wonderfully old-fashioned atmosphere, and the quality of the dishes is exceptional, particularly the gratin dauphinois, prepared by a charming and discreet yet efficient sole chef!
The service is impeccable and very courteous, provided by two admirable, efficient, and smiling young women. This service is occasionally interrupted by the sudden and frank intervention of a vigilant and very active owner behind his bar, who misses nothing of the room's ambiance... The wood pigeons are cooked over a wood fire in front of you in the back room, and you can chat with the friendly chef and cook.
Personally, I found the prices a bit excessive considering the quality of the dishes and the competition, which also serves similar dishes at better prices but in a very different setting, which perhaps explains this!
In any case, it's worth a visit, if only for the memories!

The terrace is very pleasant. The service is good. The restroom is very small for the number of chairs in the restaurant. The food is excellent. I would return to eat their smoked trout a thousand times.
