Just opposite the Jacques Cœur Palace, we discovered Chez Jacques quite by chance... a real gem with delicious food, very pleasant service, and a lovely terrace. We'll be back!

Passing through Bourges for a short stop at the end of the Ascension weekend, we dined at Le Saint Jacques without a reservation. Despite the crowds, the end of a busy weekend, and our late arrival, we were greeted with good cheer: very friendly and welcoming. We had a very pleasant evening, and the menu was excellent: homemade dishes. The duck burger and homemade fries were superb, accompanied by a glass of Loire red wine. Highly recommended.

We just had dinner at Jacques's. Our waiter gave us a very warm welcome. The meal was good. The service was perfect. The only downside? The owner/manager, who didn't know what to bring for the aperitif, while the waiter offered helpful suggestions. At the end of the meal, we suggested a digestif (just one for three people), which the waiter kindly offered. When it came time to pay, the manager greeted us while munching without even looking at us. We were happy and had given the waiter a tip. As soon as we left, the manager started yelling at the waiter for offering us a digestif. We went back to pay for the digestif so the waiter wouldn't get in trouble. The manager is unpleasant and disrespectful. Can't we tolerate a good waiter offering a digestif to his customers? In any case, it's completely unacceptable to berate an employee in front of the customers.

Excellent restaurant with very friendly staff. The dishes are sophisticated, the dining room is beautiful, and in the summer it's very pleasant to dine on the terrace in this peaceful setting, perfectly located opposite the Jacques Cœur Palace. Highly recommended.
