Chez Max sur Lille

A very pleasant restaurant with expertly prepared cuisine and a very warm welcome.

A fantastic bistro with a limited menu, a guarantee of quality and freshness! We had lunch there for a hen party today, and the service was quick and the food delicious! The French toast and the carbonnade are to die for! A place to remember!

A wonderful experience at Max's, with homemade cuisine and impeccable service in a cheerful and friendly atmosphere. We were greeted by Max (perhaps), but despite a pleasant exchange from the start, I didn't dare ask him anything. The dishes and ingredients are all explained and detailed right from the start, as seen on the menu board. The bistro ambiance and the dishes harmonize perfectly with the restaurant's overall pleasant atmosphere. The deviled eggs were delicious and different from what you usually see, accompanied by fried onions and a smoky mayonnaise. The local dish, Welsh rarebit, was simply excellent, despite the generous portion, hence the waiter's "good luck" comment 🤣. The steak tartare was presented differently (like the eggs), served in Max's own style, and both dishes were served with crispy Lille-style fries. For dessert, we opted for the "café gourmand" (gourmet coffee) which included French toast, chocolate mousse, crème brûlée, and a lemon speculoos tart. Before dessert, we enjoyed a trou normand (in Lille) 😉 to gently wash down our delicious meal. Thank you to Max and his team for a wonderful evening and generous portions.

An excellent restaurant offering fresh, homemade food! Affordable prices and very friendly, professional staff – I highly recommend it!

The food was fantastic, compliments for the cook. The waitress however was terrible. Very unfriendly and all the time in a hurry. For me the service is an important part of the service, so, no more Chez Max for me.

We were disappointed with several dishes compared to our last visit. A shame.

Welcoming and friendly staff. Excellent meat selection, all delicious. The only slight drawback: the banquettes are a bit cramped and not very comfortable. Delighted with my visit. I recommend it.

Great evening at Chez Max. Best Welsh rarebit of my life. Very friendly and warm service. It was a quick visit for us, we were going to the theatre afterwards... Perfect!
