Chez Paul sur Rennes

From a culinary standpoint, it's one of the best restaurants in Rennes, no doubt about it. I come here from time to time and I'll continue to do so, as the food is truly remarkable. However, the owner's behavior leaves me with a very negative impression. I've never seen him greet customers with a smile. The last time I was there, I overheard him talking about his new waitress at a neighboring table, saying, "She doesn't stay," the kind of remark that makes you feel quite uncomfortable. I also witnessed someone parking in a disabled parking space right next to the restaurant with a nonchalance that's hard to understand. Even my friends, on another occasion, asked me if he was just naturally unpleasant or if this was his normal behavior. It's difficult to separate the quality of the food from the attitude of the person who runs the establishment. It's a shame.

Good food, excellent value for money.

Excellent food (starter, main course, dessert) BUT: VERY BLAND SPRITZ WITH NO SNACKS, SMALL PORTION OF CHEESE, AND SERVICE NOT UP TO THE STANDARD OF THIS GOOD FOOD. We couldn't find out if all the dishes were homemade; in response to this question, we were given a menu that stated "chef's cuisine" and "wine from winemakers"—why not "from butchers"?! 😄😅 No foie gras despite it being listed on the menu board, no tablecloth, not even a placemat! In conclusion, all of this spoils the otherwise excellent food.

Excellent food, a decent selection of dishes. We drank some excellent wine; the wine list is simple but quality. Sebastien was very helpful and welcoming! If you're in the area, it's an experience not to be missed.

A pleasant little bistro with good value for money. The foie gras was a bit disappointing, but the vegetarian dish was excellent.

A culinary delight! I just wanted a drink, then I saw the octopus as a starter, so I asked Sam if I could just have that with a drink! In the end, I ordered a starter, main course, and dessert because it was so warm and delicious 🔥 Go without hesitation! The menu and dishes showcase meticulous cooking that truly highlights local produce (free-range guinea fowl, half a pigeon with confit leg, etc.). I opted for the tuna since I was already enjoying seafood, but I can't wait to go back!
