Crêperie Tivabro sur Fougeres

A peaceful break after visiting the castle. We enjoyed a meal on the terrace at the back of the crêperie; the flambéed crêpe was excellent. The waitresses were friendly and smiling, a real plus compared to the crêperies facing the castle.

The whole thing is a bit overhyped. Arriving near the end of service, we waited 45 minutes before our first bite (we had been told to expect a 15-minute wait). Everything seemed disorganized, even though there were only four people on board. The galettes were classic and good. A shame about the disappointing experience.

What a find! Absolutely loved this place. Set in a beautiful traditional building in the old town, it has bags of character and was such a brilliant way to start our trip in France. The galettes were genuinely incredible – absolutely delicious – and of course we had to follow them with sweet crêpes, which were just as good. Add in some excellent wine and we were very happy! There’s a lovely atmosphere inside, although we chose to sit on the covered terrace which was a great spot. Super friendly staff, dog-friendly and our server spoke brilliant English too. We booked online beforehand, which was really easy and we’d definitely recommend making a reservation. One of those places you leave already wanting to recommend to other people. An absolute gem!

The galettes with mushrooms were exquisite, and the sweet crepes were even better. The house chocolate was divine. It's the best creperie we've been to on our trip through Brittany, and without a doubt the best in Fougères of the two we visited, even though the other one was the most recommended and best-rated on blogs and Google Reviews. The quality-price ratio was even better. We'll never forget those crepes.

The crepes were absolutely delicious, but the service was incredibly slow and not very welcoming. A shame. Perhaps it's better to go when it's not too crowded...
