Gare de Lyon is well-connected. There are plenty of shops to help you out. But the area in front of the entrances on the Rue de Bercy side constantly smells of urine. Is there anything that can be done about it? Plus, it's the side where you catch the buses, so the wait isn't very pleasant.

Due to delays on our Eurostar train from Germany, we missed our TGV to Barcelona. The SNCF staff at the service center were very helpful. Since there were no more trains to Barcelona that day, they paid for our hotel, including breakfast, and allowed us to take the TGV the next morning, even though it was fully booked. The TGV staff were also very friendly and did their best to ensure we had a pleasant journey nonetheless! Overall, I found the SNCF staff to be very kind and helpful. I've had similar experiences in the past at Gare du Nord and Gare de Austerlitz.

30/08/2026: Excellent experience! We celebrated a birthday there for 15 people on August 30th, and the waiter was perfect, even though he was alone serving about 60 people! Happy hour was from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and at the end, there were still 4 of us at 1:00 am. He didn't rush us at all. The tapas were very good and varied, and the prices were reasonable in a quiet little street.
21/06/2026: Hello, I'm writing this message because I've rarely been so warmly welcomed in a bar (and that's saying something, considering my notorious alcoholism!). The welcome was so warm it made me feel a little hot (?). Clément the goat, quite simply, certainly even Monsieur Seguin's goat! If Clément doesn't get a 20% raise, I think this bar will never be able to expand on a large scale in Paris. That's just the opinion of a man who was nominated for a Nobel Prize in Economics! I'll be back often (every night, since Alcoholics Anonymous hasn't found any viable long-term solutions for me). See you soon!
