The surprise was a friendly place where you can relax with homemade dishes, which is important to me. You feel right at home with very good food, the carbonnade was excellent. I spotted several interesting dishes, and today, in addition to dessert, the dessert of the day was perfect (as pictured). Homemade carbonnade with tender meat and homemade sauce—you can't go wrong! I arrived a bit timidly because I was in my work clothes and didn't dare go in, but I was greeted with a smile. The cook was super friendly, and the waitress was attentive, making sure everything was alright. What kindness! Frankly, I eat out a lot, so quality is important to me, and sometimes I'm disappointed, but not this time. There's no risk of being disappointed. You can go there, 10/10 for the traditional option. I'll definitely be back, and not alone. As for the price, which is the bottom line, a main course, drink, dessert, and two coffees with cream is €28 without the two coffees, €24. It's a good deal. Main courses are €15. Honestly, they're nice, there are cheaper options, like fast food (it's up to you, I've seen it), the decor takes you back to childhood, the old furniture, the 70s cash register, I love it, you feel comfortable.

If I had to recommend a timeless place, this is the ideal spot, with top-notch, attentive staff and above all, an ideal environment for a meal with friends...

The service is exceptionally comfortable; the expression "feeling at home" takes on its full meaning. You want to eat, and your mouth waters—your plate will already be on the table!

The perfect patio area for a meal with friends. The food lived up to our expectations, the prices were more than reasonable, and the waitress was lovely. Thank you for this meal; everything was perfect. I highly recommend it.

Friendly waitresses, the owner too, reasonable prices and good food. We ate there on Saturday at lunchtime (7 people) and again in the evening (17 people) on the back terrace, even though it was a bit late. The waitresses managed it really well. It was for the French pétanque championship in Douai.

What a wonderful discovery in Douai! We had a very pleasant time at this restaurant. The dishes were generously portioned and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the foie gras with fresh raspberries and toasted bread slices; it was a true feast for the eyes and the palate. Everything was perfectly prepared. We will gladly return to try the rest of the menu.
