We had a lovely evening; the menu was very good (although we would have preferred something other than a simple plate of arugula with vinaigrette to replace the cheese, which we don't eat), and the waitresses were friendly and efficient. One small complaint: I would have appreciated it if the sommelier had spoken to me as much as to my partner when choosing the wine, especially when I was the one speaking to him. It's 2026; it's a shame that this kind of situation still happens.

I recently dined at Gill restaurant in Rouen, drawn in by recommendations and its well-deserved reputation. Unfortunately, my overall experience fell short of expectations.
Upon arrival, the welcome was adequate, nothing more: neither particularly warm nor downright unpleasant. The dining room was pleasant, the ambiance rather refined, which led me to hope for a delightful gastronomic experience. As for the food, I found the dishes sorely lacking in personality. The ingredients seemed to be of decent quality, but the flavors often lacked depth and boldness. On several occasions, I felt that a somewhat restrained aesthetic was prioritized over taste. Some dishes lacked seasoning or balance, whereas one expects a true culinary signature in an establishment of this caliber.
The service was professional, but lacked a certain attentiveness and warmth—which could have made the meal more enjoyable.
The most frustrating aspect remains the value for money. For the prices charged, I expected a much more refined, inventive, and truly delicious meal. At this price, there are undoubtedly other restaurants in Rouen that offer a better culinary experience. Gill's experience is visually appealing, but in my opinion, it doesn't justify the prices. It might be worth trying once if you're curious, but it certainly didn't convince me as a reliable choice.

Excellent first time at this restaurant.
The dishes were beautifully presented and the service was professional and polite. The atmosphere was pleasant, although it could be a little noisy at times.
Special mention for the incredibly light mille-feuille.

A perfect lunch from start to finish. The flavors are subtle, the dishes beautifully presented, and the staff incredibly attentive. A truly delightful culinary experience. And the signature dessert, that marvelous mille-feuille... so light and airy!

No complaints about the quality of the food and the cuisine; it's still excellent.
My wife, a vegetarian, was disappointed with the alternative dish offered. The vegetarian trend hasn't quite reached the kitchens yet...
You need to be patient to enjoy the food; expect to wait almost an hour for the starter, after which the service flows more smoothly.
The prices are still comparable to a Michelin-starred restaurant: €277 à la carte for two: aperitif, starter, main course, dessert, half a bottle of water, and half a bottle of wine.
There is a less expensive set menu at €89.
It's a pleasure to be repeated sparingly...
