My wife, a vegetarian, was disappointed with the alternative dish offered. The vegetarian trend hasn't quite reached the kitchens yet...
You need to be patient to enjoy the food; expect to wait almost an hour for the starter, after which the service flows more smoothly.
The prices are still comparable to a Michelin-starred restaurant: €277 à la carte for two: aperitif, starter, main course, dessert, half a bottle of water, and half a bottle of wine.
There is a less expensive set menu at €89.
It's a pleasure to be repeated sparingly...

The restaurant is built right on the sidewalk, blocking pedestrians, strollers... It's a disgrace!
Updated comment following the owner's response: the exterior design is deplorable, but the city may also bear some responsibility. In any case, the safety of pedestrians and cyclists is ultimately compromised.

It's very rare to have a wine served at the wrong temperature... I was surprised, whether it was at Chez Gill, that it was too cold!
The most surprising thing is that no one tried to remedy this, and that we were left with this wine that was too cold throughout the meal.
Cold is also the quality of the welcome at the entrance of this establishment!
They obviously manage a clientele of regulars and seem clumsy in welcoming those who are new to it...
Not impressed with this renowned place.
The cuisine, however, is refined, tasty, and perfectly balanced in its blend of flavors.

Superb 🤩 what a joy to rediscover this delicious French gastronomy, unique in the world; Gilles has a remarkable talent that puts him for us among the great French chefs that we like, such as Frechon or Savoy, to name but a few. Remarkable mushroom truffle ravioli, beautiful snacked oysters on langoustine carpaccio, pigeon à la rouennaise royal, and finally the best vanilla millefeuille of our lives. Not forgetting his wife Sylvie, who manages the customers with talent and kindness. What a magnificent journey since his beginnings at the Château d'Audrieu, where we discovered him more than forty years ago! THANK YOU for carrying high the colors and values of France.

An exceptional lunch in the heart of Rouen – A memorable experience at Gill’s
We had the pleasure of having lunch at the Gill restaurant in Rouen, and it was simply exceptional from start to finish.
The tasting menu at €109 per person offers a true gastronomic journey, perfectly balancing tradition and creativity. Each dish is a masterpiece, both visually and gustatorily. Impeccably cooked, perfectly seasoned, and an attention to detail that demonstrates great culinary expertise.
A special mention goes to the service: discreet, attentive, professional, without ever being stuffy. The staff is perfectly attentive and contributes to making the experience even more enjoyable.
We accompanied the meal with a Chinon Vieilles Vignes, a delicate red wine that paired wonderfully with the entire menu.
The setting is a perfect match for the cuisine: refined and calm. A true respect for the art of French dining is evident.
A memorable lunch, worthy of the reputation of this fine establishment. A truly justified value for money for a restaurant of this caliber. We will definitely return.

Absolutely incredible. It was a shame that the air conditioning was dead on June 13th in the tropical heat. But the meal was absolutely divine. The service, the thoughtfulness for a layman like me, everything was perfect.
A wonderful romantic evening.

Undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants in Normandy. I appreciate their commitment to offering a menu that blends regional culinary traditions with influences from further afield, particularly Japanese. I tasted the best mille-feuille of my entire life there. The service is efficient and friendly, without ever being obsequious. A truly professional team who know their craft, especially when it comes to suggesting wines or describing the menu. All this with a smile!
Thank you to them, including the kitchen staff, because I had a truly wonderful time here.
