Grand Hotel Negre Coste sur Aix-En-Provence

We stayed at this hotel and booked three rooms. Upon arrival, we were given a Classic room that was extremely small. As a couple, it was barely functional — there was almost no space to move, and the only storage was a very tiny safe. I literally didn’t know where to put our belongings. We politely requested a larger room and they eventually upgraded us, which was appreciated. However, what really surprised and disappointed us was the deposit policy. They took a deposit for the three rooms and told us it was for any spa services or restaurant orders. At check-out, they did not return the deposit immediately. Instead, the receptionist had to go and personally inspect all three rooms before releasing it. The rooms had absolutely nothing valuable — no mini-bar, no valuables, not even bathrobes worth worrying about. It felt as though the hotel treats its guests as potential thieves, which created a very uncomfortable and distrustful atmosphere. If you are a couple, I strongly advise against booking the regular Classic rooms as they are too small and impractical. Regarding the deposit process, it needs serious improvement. The hotel’s location is excellent and very convenient. The breakfast has a nice French touch with some distinctive items, though the variety was quite limited. The waitresses in the restaurant were very friendly, understanding, and attentive, which was a highlight. we would like to thank the hotel management for their understanding, quick responses, and assistance with any questions we had.

A very nice hotel, perfectly located in the pedestrian zone of Aix. The rooms are high quality and the staff are lovely. The breakfast was also excellent. I highly recommend it.

I give the spa at Negracoste the highest rating because of Déa the best massage therapist I’ve ever had. She is professional, kind and gifted in massage therapy. Déa is the reason to visit this hotel spa.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The reception staff were kind and friendly, and we received a very warm welcome. The restaurant was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Getting there by car requires a bit of patience, but the staff were very helpful in guiding us. The spa is perfectly adequate for a relaxing experience, especially when it's not too crowded. One small suggestion for improvement: the questionnaire should be completed beforehand, rather than when you're already ready to go to the spa. The spa attendants didn't seem particularly welcoming. Overall, a good stay.

Nice place but mediocre service—they completely ignore a customer who's been waiting for over 15 minutes. That's called decadence. It's the same in Aix, anyway. No need to make an effort. But it's going to end up like the Saint-Michel district in Paris. Even the tourists have realized it's awful and they don't come anymore. It's a shame our restaurant owners are resting on their laurels just because we live in such a beautiful city. Doesn't that strike you as odd?

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. We were welcomed by a very friendly and welcoming reception team, including Camille and Florette. The hotel is right in the center. We will gladly return!

An exquisite interlude at the Negrecoste Hotel in Aix-en-Provence for a successful stay; everything is in place for a very pleasant time: attentive staff (without exception! The entire staff is lovely, and I especially thank Camille and Thaïs), very comfortable rooms, elegant decor and furnishings, impeccable cleanliness, an ideal location for strolling around Aix, and extremely convenient parking. I highly recommend it and return every year with pleasure!

Business reservation for Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The day before, someone called to tell me that the elevator, being in a pedestrian zone, was out of order. I explained that I needed a maximum of one room on the first floor (I had a large suitcase, a laptop, and a briefcase). On the day of arrival, it was very difficult to get there by car, as the hotel was in a pedestrian zone...after numerous mishaps (parking meters that wouldn't lower, a broken remote key fob, the hotel phone constantly busy...) I finally arrived at the hotel parking lot (€30 per night!). At reception, a young woman, alone despite the ringing of all the other phones, and I wasn't the only one in trouble...she told me I had a room on the 4th floor with a broken elevator. This is too much! I demand a refund and will go elsewhere! The young receptionist, Thaïs, always working alone, went above and beyond, swapping rooms so I was finally on the first floor, and even upgraded me to make up for the inconvenience. I learned the next day that she was an intern, but she was more professional than many of the staff, juggling all the tools at her disposal. The hotel owner should really consider having an intern alone at reception during a busy period! Thank you to Thaïs, who saved my stay. The next day, when I left, they even gave me free parking.

We enjoyed a session at the hotel spa. The space is limited to four people, but since there were three of us, we were lucky enough to have the entire area to ourselves. Although small, the spa offers an intimate experience with everything you need to relax: sauna, steam room, pool/jacuzzi, multi-jet shower, and hot/cold shower. We had a very pleasant time! Just one or two small armchairs to sit in would make the spa area even better.
