Grand Hôtel Roi René sur Aix-En-Provence

Stayed here overnight and had a great time. They’ve clearly put a lot of thought into the interior design and decoration. That said, I ran into a few problems that would stop me from staying again. 1. The TV system is the worst I’ve encountered. Like most hotels, the TVs run a custom operating system, but this one only lets you watch French TV or use Netflix. I usually get around these kinds of restrictions by bringing a laptop and an HDMI cable, but that doesn’t work here. The system doesn’t detect an external input, and after five minutes it throws up an annoying screensaver with the hotel’s name across the screen. There’s no way to disable it. 2. No EV charging with CCS2. Even if you get a parking spot, there’s no way to charge an EV using CCS2. Given that this is the European standard, I found that very surprising. 3. No way to make international phone calls. This is probably uncommon, but a lot of “old-school” businesses, banks especially, still require phone calls for security verification. Most 4-star hotels offer this.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. We stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The location is 5min walk from the train station, and 5min walk to the central area of Aix. It’s definitely located in a quiet area, but there’s a pharmacy, convenience store, and bakery right across the street. The pool was a nice touch for the hot days there.

A truly lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Ideally located just steps from the center of Aix-en-Provence. The restaurant is also very good.

The Deluxe room with pool view is lovely, tastefully renovated, and well-insulated. Perfect location for exploring the heart of Aix while enjoying the refreshing feel of a swimming pool. The welcome and service were very friendly, efficient, and professional. My requests for my mother's birthday were heard and respected. I am very grateful for that. Excellent breakfast and a delicious Sunday brunch with a plancha grill service that shouldn't be missed. We will be back.

Everything was perfect, as usual. Plus, the hotel is now magnificent after the renovations.

Hotel well located. Very nice hotel, many positive points: swimming pool, valet parking, restaurant, bar. Clean room. Pleasant service overall. Breakfast served in the room was very well presented and generous portions. Very well located.

A magnificent hotel close to the city center with very friendly and, above all, highly professional staff! The breakfast is superb, with a very wide variety of sweet and savory options! The rooms are extremely comfortable, and those with a terrace are definitely worth trying! Book your parking space in advance as there are few spots available; otherwise, there's a public parking lot right across the street. And the absolute best part? Our small dogs are treated like VIPs with a basket, treats, and a little welcome note! An excellent place that's well worth a visit!

This is a lovely hotel in a great location! The breakfast buffet is over the top and the folks at the front desk are extremely friendly and helpful!

The hotel is very well located in Aix, close to all amenities. It has been tastefully renovated and, above all, the staff are wonderful, from the housekeeping to the dining room and reception staff. They always have a kind word and a thoughtful touch! It's the only hotel I've stayed in so far where everyone is so incredibly friendly.
