We found the place because we were passing by and it smelled delicious. We ordered some takoyaki which were delicious. I totally recommend a trip to try them. 10/10

It had been a while since we'd been back to that place. Either my memory is playing tricks on me, or Happatei isn't what it used to be. The takoyaki were very good. But the okonomiyaki were less impressive. And to top it all off, the taiyaki 🙁...very dry. Let's hope it was just a one-off.

A quick stop for two Taiyaki to go, one matcha and one red bean. The matcha was rather bland, but you could still smell the matcha aroma. The bean was sweeter, so it added a bit more flavor than the matcha. The filling was generous. I was worried the outside might have gone soft because I could see they were prepared in advance but had remained on the hot molds. In the end, they were served hot and still crispy, so I wasn't disappointed.

There aren't many okonomiyaki restaurants in Paris, so I'm glad I ate there! It's a little reminiscent of Osaka cuisine (there are also some Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki recipes with noodles) with takoyaki as an appetizer, but it's not quite the same. I couldn't say exactly what's missing, but I wasn't completely blown away... it's really good, but there's a lot of sauce, it's very, very salty, and the proportions of the toppings could be improved in my opinion :) but it's nice to be able to sit at the counter and watch them make it right in front of you!

Way too much sauce; it makes the dish too heavy and greasy. Don't sit upstairs; the waitstaff don't stay there.

03/06/2026: I've been ordering from them for months! The best!!! They even have free gifts, and delivery is free and fast on the website.
25/05/2026: I've been coming here for years for the all-you-can-eat option for special occasions. The lunch prices are more than reasonable, and there's always room even when it's busy. It's run by a very welcoming and helpful family. The food is always delicious, freshly prepared, and the music is great. A minor drawback is the desserts, which are rather basic, but they're clearly working on improving them. :) Thank you!

13/06/2026: Second Time there to confirm my initial feeling: Food is good but way overpriced. Several restaurants in Paris are as good and much cheaper.
11/06/2026: Proper Japanese food in a lovely space, with a large Japanese clientele. We loved everything we ordered - soba, miso cod, Scottish salmon nigiri, pickles... and the desserts should not be missed! Very cute outside space too.
