We came on a Saturday evening, a party of three.
We ordered our meals directly, and it took two hours to order, be served, and eat. Clearly, either the staff isn't trained or they were short-staffed. We received the order from the next table first, waited forever to order desserts, and only two out of three arrived. Our coffee wasn't served either. Then we watched as they cleaned a table... a quick wipe with a cloth, scattering all the crumbs on the floor and banquettes... So, okay, the food was good, but... it's still a shame. There are a few things that need improvement.

It's always a pleasure to eat at Hippopotamus; I come for the same thing every time: the high-quality cuts of meat and the absolutely delicious pepper sauce.
As always, I'm very satisfied with my meal and the service.

We are familiar with this chain, and precisely for that reason, this branch was a bit disappointing. Our experiences in Paris were very good, with atmosphere and hospitality, but in Lille, the restaurant looks somewhat dated and lacks character. The ambiance feels a bit like faded glory. The staff was polite and businesslike, but lacked warmth or engagement; it felt more like a case of eating and moving on. That made the experience very different from what we are used to from this chain.

It's okay the steak tough and it's still bleeding , asking for medium well , hard to catch waiter , he don't entertain customers you need to call him , time to pay need to wait horrible , bathroom hard to get inn horrible it's horrible restrooms in Europe....anyway it's good food but small portion not even half in US 😂🤣charge to experience 🫡🤓😉🫡

A good Hippopotamus restaurant. Friendly staff, fast service, and good steak tartare. Worth noting: You can pay online using a QR code. A significant time saver.
