A very warm welcome, the gizzard salad was a delight, the trout fillet was succulent, and the duck breast was excellent. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience. The food was excellent, but above all, the service was exceptional. Tito served us, and he was truly attentive and helpful throughout our visit. We will definitely return.

The staff were welcoming and smiling despite the full restaurant, and the waiter even took the time to joke with my 9-year-old son. I was very happy with my lamb shoulder and French toast. The prices were very reasonable, as was the wait time. I'll definitely eat here again if I'm ever in Garazi again.

Passing through, we had dinner and tried the pork chop, slow-cooked for 12 hours and then grilled on the plancha, sourced from a local producer: a delight, accompanied by creamy polenta (I'm not making this up, the owner took the time to explain everything to me with pleasure and a smile 🙂). My husband enjoyed a maxi burger with meat and a very good, generously sized fresh (not mass-produced) bun. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the value for money was excellent. We're from Biarritz and will gladly return.

Restaurant Café de la Paix in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port Friendly restaurant with local Basque products 👍 We ate there on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, around 1 p.m. for two people. There was a bit of a wait, so I recommend making a reservation. As you can see from my photos, there's a good selection. We paid €49 for two people, including a pint of beer 🍺 and €33 for local food. Regional and local dishes with beautiful presentation. Restroom with baby changing facilities. Responsive and friendly staff. I therefore recommend the restaurant, Café de la Paix. Enjoy your meal! This is our second visit to Cafe de la Paix . We had the Magret de Canard which was superb and highly recommended. The service was excellent and the waiters spoke good english .

Warm welcome and friendly staff. Excellent food made with local ingredients. And all at a really reasonable price. Whenever I'm in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, I always make a point of stopping here. 👍👍👍

PIZZA ONA

02/03/2026: This small pizza shop is one of the few things you will find open in this area this time of year on a Sunday evening. Pretty much takeaway for us - pretty small inside. The shop focused on pizza - they have several styles from the local basque, traditional and then pizzas from around the world. They have a number of wines, soft drinks, and even a local cider in their cooler. We were unsure of French pizza BUT - fresh ingredients and a great deal of love make for great pizza, and that's what you find here. The lady running the shop is multilingual, quite the charmer, and she makes a good pizza too! We went with a local basque flavor to try some of that famous ham - good call. Would do again - definitely recommend.
01/03/2026: The owner was incredibly friendly to me, since I didn't speak French. She recommended a fantastic pizza.

29/10/2025: When you get back from the coast, whatever the time or day, the Souraïde vending machine is a godsend. Eight pizzas to choose from, ready in 4 minutes 30 seconds. My partner and I opted for the "Pappy-Jo" and we weren't disappointed. The thin crust wasn't burnt and was even crispy, though not too much for our taste. Just a few toppings were "burnt" from contact with the aluminum tray. When I say "a few," I mean two or three bits of bacon, so it's not the end of the world. We'll gladly try the others when we're back.
