Hotel du Commerce sur Chatel-Guyon

A rather understated storefront, a quiet interior terrace in a courtyard. A pleasant initial phone reception, followed by an online in-person check-in. Delicious local dishes. It could have been a 4-star establishment. Then, at the end of our meal, the chef came around the dining room with a bottle of house digestif. He offered us some, and we took some, thinking it was a gesture from the restaurant. When we paid, the bill showed two digestifs at €5.90 each. We pointed this out to the chef who was serving us. There was no reaction other than, "I offered it to you, not on the house." It doesn't exactly make you want to come back!

The bougnate was excellent, a real treat. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by overly pushy service (we hadn't even finished our meals before he was asking us what we wanted for dessert). Although we had simply ordered coffees after dessert, the waiter insisted heavily on serving us the liqueur made by his boss without ever mentioning the price beforehand. To top it all off, this drink was more like a syrup and was automatically charged at €5.80, appearing on the bill as "Poire William" when it wasn't. I believe serving a product under a false name is illegal... It's a shame, the quality of the meal deserved a more honest and transparent experience.

The service was excellent, and the staff were pleasant. We were in a hurry, we mentioned it when ordering, and we were served quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will gladly return.

We had a great time in this small restaurant where the waitress was very pleasant and where we ate well.

Very warm welcome and good traditional local cuisine

We were looking for a restaurant to eat local food. We weren't disappointed because it was very, very good. The waiters gave us excellent advice. We recommend this restaurant.

Excellent restaurant for the price. The food is delicious, everything is homemade, even the whipped cream. Very friendly service. Highly recommended.

Traditional Auvergne cuisine. The truffade is very good and hearty, and the pizzas and tarts are also very generously topped. The prices are very reasonable. We returned in 2026... and were a little disappointed. The pizza and the savory Auvergne tart didn't impress us.
