Hotel du Nord sur Saint-Jean-De-Maurienne

We were looking for a place to dine and settled on this restaurant. The dining room is very pleasant, but we rate it 5 stars, especially for the food and the service. The food is excellent and the service is attentive. We recommend it.

As a regular traveler, I'm always looking for a place to stay to return to, but I won't be keeping this place. The room: very clean, but mixed feelings. The electric heater was making noise (like walking under a power line). I reported it to the owner who was at reception. He came up and said, "There's no noise." I suggested we turn the heater off to see, and then, yes, there was no more noise, but the owner replied, "It's the same, there's no noise." Basically, I was dreaming, and even the TV wasn't covering up the noise. Go to sleep with that. I asked to change rooms, and he told me it would be the same in the others. Not nice and dishonest; it's better if he stayed in the kitchen; customer relations isn't his strong point. Fortunately, the owner raises the bar during meals and breakfast. She's lovely and very helpful. But I won't be going back.

Route de grandes Alpes, detour to make the lacetes de montvenier. Very honest hotel, clean rooms. Fearsome dinner from chef Philippe. Highly recommended

Very good local cuisine, based on fresh produce. Adorable and caring service as a bonus in the vaulted room of an old stable. A very nice restaurant in Saint Jean de Maurienne.
