Externally the hotel is uninteresting, however as soon as you go inside you find a modern, cozy chic and tasteful decor. The bar is small, but nice, no coffee liqueur so no Black Russian after dinner too bad, but not really a big deal.
I opted for a glass and flute of pink champagne from a “small” local producer, the house of Ghislain Payer et Fille, ok, but not unforgettable. I must admit that I am not a big fan of Champagne, but in the region I admit that I have a weakness for the Billecart Salmon house, they have it, but only in bottle.
Then to bed
I took a luxury room under the roof, I think one of the largest, No. 60, indeed very beautiful spaces, top bathroom with spa bath and shower. On the other hand, the air conditioning at first glance seemed a little tight for the size of the room (I would say 40m2), but ultimately it did the job.
In the room the decor is sober, but nice
The bedding is of very good quality.
The staff are charming and efficient
The location is great for visiting Châlons-en-Champagne on foot, the cathedral is really close and the N.-D. church. -en-Vaux is almost in front of the hotel
A very good stopover address between Reims and Metz which to my knowledge is sorely lacking, if you want to visit Reims or Épernay see addresses more centered on these cities (although!), on the other hand it is a good starting point for go spend a day in Verdun and come back, if you don't mind a good hour's drive.
The hotel has 2 restaurants, 1 starred restaurant “Restaurant Jerome Feck”, and a simpler restaurant “times are changing”. I posted a review for each of the restaurants.
The star restaurant lives up to its star, which is not always the case.
The bistro is nice
In conclusion, no reason for dissatisfaction, everything was perfect and above my expectations for a hotel of this category.
