Indigo sur Bazas

French classics served with friendly service and great hospitality! The menu is short but curated, and the desserts were a special highlight. Highly recommend the spot for a lunch after market day or a relaxed dinner.

As a regular since the beginning, probably one of the first customers, it's always a joy to go to INDIGO! Today, on a sweltering day, I was looking forward to eating there in a cool, "fresh" setting. Chef Thierry REGIS's cuisine is normally refined, elegantly exotic, using top-quality ingredients and paying particular attention to presentation and customer service. I thought that, given the heat, Thierry would have prepared those fresh and refined dishes inspired by his travels in Australia and Asia. Not at all! A lukewarm, poorly emulsified gazpacho with burrata (the burrata itself was fine). We then ordered beef, which apparently was cheap beef, nothing like our Bazadais beef! It was a Bazadais in name only: the meat was tough, tasteless, and certainly didn't have that distinctive Bazadais flavor you can smell from afar when the plates arrive in the dining room! with a tasteless sauce. For the first time at Indigo, I left some meat on the menu, and so did my friend! We succumbed to Indigo's signature dessert: Pavlova, a recipe brought back from Australia by Isabelle long before it became fashionable. The Pavlova was sticky and impossible to cut (that wasn't their fault, I blame it on the heat and humidity!). But why, when we have fresh fruit like raspberries and strawberries at the end of June, did we find frozen "red berries" reserved for winter Pavlovas? The service? Nothing discreet about it: glasses were jostled and made a lot of noise! ​​Cutlery was thrown onto the table when we asked for a knife to "cut" the Pavlova! A rude and inattentive waitress, and the bill didn't arrive despite two requests. The bill itself was very reasonable, though. Thierry must not have been in charge that day because I didn't see him come around the dining room to greet the customers. The chef, to whom I expressed my disappointment, didn't lift a finger! I concluded that it wasn't Thierry Regis, but perhaps he sold the restaurant for a well-deserved retirement? That day, the people of Bazas will have... The "rump steak" from Bazas, served on three plates, had tough, inedible pieces on one of them. They offered no compensation whatsoever. We weren't even offered a free coffee; we paid for all three. We won't be back.

Ended up disappointing overall. We went a week ago, four of us. We were impressed with the food. I personally told the chef. I left 10 Euros tip to the waitress. So, we went back this week with other friends and I saw the chef and said “we are bringing new people”. I ordered a carré d’agneau that came so small, a ridiculous piece of meat, poorly executed, dry, overcooked and the creamy sauce was split. When the waitress came back and asked how it was, I gently said I was not impressed and explained. I also said it was not a big deal, but since she asked I’d rather be honest. Being a foodie and a cook myself it was only fair to tell. You would have expected a nice gesture, an offer for a glass of wine or a coffee. No, we didn’t hear anything. I believe that when you get clients who come back with other people, you’d want to care for them. Mistakes happen and I still think this place has nice food, but it’s important to acknowledge feedback. We won’t go back unfortunately.

Excellent food and very pleasant staff

Excellent, homemade cuisine. Very good value for money. We make a special trip to eat there (from Toulouse/Bordeaux). The cathedral square is magnificent, and the restaurant is located under the arcades.

A lovely service for a delightful lunch break under the arcades in front of the town hall. We were passing through Bazas and we were so glad we stopped to eat here!

We return regularly for the cuisine, which explores original flavors using seasonal products—a true delight. We also return for the impeccable service, the warm welcome shown on every visit, and the intimate and inviting atmosphere. Thank you to the entire team!

Recommended by our host. The food was refined and excellent; we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I loved the squid ink risotto, and the dessert (red berry pavlova) was delicious.
