1st visit. As a guest, I regretted that there were no grills like there were "in the past" at Niki's.

Kifune is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Paris which opened its doors in 1989, a stone's throw from Porte Maillot. It is a traditional cuisine which is offered based on fresh and quality products, executed by experienced Japanese chefs.
At lunch we have the choice between several menus at 35€ while in the evening there is an a la carte choice of small dishes based on fish and seafood which are raw or cooked. For example squid with sea urchins, sea urchin makis, crab in vinegar, shellfish sashimi, selection of sushi, different fried foods, miso soup with clams, etc... Prices vary from 10 to 40€ depending on the dish

This is very authentic Japanese restaurant. The best in Paris. You can enjoy Izakaya tapas à la carte at the beginning and for the main, their very authentic sushis by a Japanese chef. Servers are all Japanese, they are friendly and very attentive. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice authentic Japanese restaurant.

Had the set lunch. Tempura. Lovely set. Fast service. Overly busy resto. Tempura was actually a bit heavy for me.

A real Japanese restaurant run by Japanese (there are few in Paris. There are mainly "Japanese-Chinese"). The dishes are delicious and authentic. The place is small, always remember to book.

Kifune is a great way of approximating having a lunch in Japan, from the staff to the regulars ending by the menu it is the closest to Japan you could get whilst still in Paris.
We had a great time coming for a second time (first was with Japanese friends).
As non Japanese speakers, the staff was very helpful.
One warning : book in advance as it is very sought after

Very good place for a special occasion, the food is excellent, it's a very good immersion in Japanese cuisine. We took assortments of sushi, original and very fine. Be careful to specify to remove the wasabi inside the sushi for those who mind. The fruit liqueurs are also worth trying (plum for me), as well as the desserts: I highly recommend the black sesame panna cotta and the matcha mochi
