La Batisse sur Saint-Etienne

A wonderful restaurant, a cozy little haven in the heart of Saint-Étienne. The owner, who is also the chef, is very friendly and talented. We had a truly excellent meal, with flavorful dishes. We highly recommend the quenelle, the restaurant's signature dish. You won't be disappointed!

Friendly, professional owner, high-quality cuisine

I just typed a long post, only to scroll past it myself. This was my last night in Saint-Thiana, and I tried traditional country dishes—rabbit back meat and lemon tart. The combination of champagne and red wine with the rabbit back meat and red wine sauce was quite novel. I apologize for being a novice to French cuisine; the rabbit meat was tender and juicy, and the sauce was flavorful without being overly hot. The lemon tart used different types of cookies to bring out the different layers of lemon sauce—meringoes, almond cookies, and egg yolk cookies. Finally, the daily champagne had a refreshing acidity, perfectly cleansing the palate and allowing me to appreciate every detail the chef presented. He truly cooks with his soul; I felt the details were handled with perfect balance, yet he maintained his own unique style. I hope his business prospers and he continues to run the restaurant.

We booked a table for our wedding anniversary, our first time here, and what a discovery! A beautifully decorated restaurant, refined and delicious cuisine, generous portions, quick service, and a warm welcome. We'll definitely be back!
