La Belle Epoque sur Hesdin

My daughter introduced me to this restaurant today. A wonderful discovery! 🥰

Passing through Hesdin-la-Forêt for work, I stopped for lunch. I hesitated before going in: I'm young, and the restaurant seemed to attract a rather older clientele. In the end, it was a very pleasant surprise. The staff is truly lovely, and you immediately feel a very family-oriented atmosphere, deeply rooted in village life. It's not at all overly familiar or inappropriate: it's warm, respectful, and natural. A rare balance. The menu is varied while remaining true to local produce, which allows it to appeal to a wide audience without losing its identity. I had a very good meal, with excellent value for money. The place is old, yes, but it's neither dirty nor run-down. It has character. The posters, the decor, everything tells a story. You get the feeling it's a restaurant that lives by its traditions: unique daily specials that change depending on the day of the month (for example, couscous on the first Sunday, blanquette de veau the following Sunday, etc.). This kind of place is something you can't just invent. There's also a beautiful outdoor setting, large tables, big gatherings, themed evenings… in short, a real hub of activity. I'm speaking directly to restaurant owners: this is exactly the kind of restaurant France needs, and that our villages need. These are the places that sometimes embody a part of the village's soul. I'm not from the area, but I will most certainly return during my next business trips. And I would really love the opportunity to experience your large communal tables.

Great atmosphere, friendly, professional, and smiling owner and servers. A wide selection of excellent dishes. The calf's head was a gem.

EXCELLENT PLACE!!! I highly recommend it. Everything is there: the quality, the welcome, the setting. We arrived unexpectedly and the owner welcomed us like friends. A great meal after the fly fishing show... a must-do. Absolutely top-notch!

The setting is very pleasant, the food excellent, and thank you also for accepting my German Shorthaired Pointer. On my next visit, I will finally try the Welsh rarebit, your specialty. I must verify if it is truly better than the one from my beloved Flanders… but be warned, I come as a strict judge, a chauvinist, and ready to defend Flemish Welsh rarebit as a national treasure! You never tire of the great atmosphere and the owner's good humor. The staff is very professional, the dishes are high quality and perfectly portioned, and the service is impeccable. You feel very welcome.

Excellent food and a very warm welcome! They have "traditional" dishes that you just don't find anymore, like frog legs. The desserts were also very good. The owner is friendly and cheerful.

We had a wonderful time celebrating a birthday. The food was delicious, and Christophe was always attentive, with his delightful touch of humor. We'll definitely be back.

An excellent address! The setting is warm, the service pleasant and the food truly delicious. Special mention for the smoked salmon fillet on its skin with garlic butter and its small vegetables: a pure delight! The cooking is perfect, the skin very crispy and the flavors are balanced. A big congratulations to the chef and the entire team for this wonderful gourmet moment. I recommend it without hesitation!
