18/08/2026: One of the few restaurants open late and with a wide selection. The lamb shoulder was very good, perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. Also, since one of us had a slight stomach ache, they even made us pasta without vegetables, charging us only €3 (very fair). The only downside is that the seats on the outside benches are a bit uncomfortable.
17/08/2026: A hearty lunch enjoyed on a Sunday. The dining room is air-conditioned and there's an outdoor terrace at the entrance to Sancerre's town center. We received a warm welcome and the service was pleasant. The interior is a beautiful, traditional setting, converted from a stable, with lovely exposed beams. There was a slight wait for our order, but nothing serious.
We enjoyed cocktails as an aperitif, followed by a meal with a starter, main course, cheese/dessert, and a bottle of wine. Excellent poached egg in red wine sauce (€14.50), salmon and warm goat cheese salad (€15.50), Berrichon burger (€15.60), and pike quenelle with Sancerre wine sauce (€17.80), half a goat cheese and iceberg lettuce sundae (see photos): €110 for two.
We treated ourselves, but the prices are reasonable if you want something simple and quick, with dishes, salads, burgers, etc., at €15/€16/€17, a children's menu (€9.90), and set menus at €25.40 and €33.80.
And also Calf's Head at €18.90, numerous pizzas around €15, Steak Tartare, Winemaker's Terrine at €12.90, Pasta with Crottin Sauce at €16.10, Royal Beef Steak with Foie Gras at €24, Lamb Shoulder with Thyme at €18.50, Authentic Troyes AAAAA Andouillette at €17.90, Fish and Chips at €17.20...
The portions are generous and the service is quick and efficient with very little waiting.
We had a lovely 1.5 hours enjoying everything and then strolled around the city.
Visited in August 2026 for lunch.
