La Camargue sur Aigues-Mortes

What can I say except that everything was perfect! From the service to the food, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff is very friendly, the setting is truly lovely, and the food… oh my goodness, it was delicious! We will definitely be back on our next visit…

We had a very good meal in a typical Camargue setting. The welcome and service were very friendly. The only downside was the wait to be served.

Okay, let's be honest. I'm giving it 3 stars because I misinterpreted the establishment based on its glorious past. The restaurant La Camargue, with its Camargue ambiance, gypsy music/musician, sophisticated clientele, and bohemian chic dining experience… is no longer the case. But I didn't know that. The food is very good, no complaints there, except for the very high prices of the starters (e.g., €16 for 9 gratinated mussels). The fish is excellent, cooked over a wood fire in the patio, which remains the place's main selling point. However, the "dance" music, neither local nor appropriate, blaring in the patio makes no sense, especially since it's played on "free" Spotify, meaning customers also get to enjoy the commercial breaks every 10 minutes. It's nonsensical. The sauces come in individual plastic packets and are served in cups (like in a school cafeteria), which is also avoidable and doesn't match the good quality of the homemade fries and the dishes in general. Alright La Camargue, a few details about the atmosphere and general presentation and we'll be back.
