A wonderful discovery in the heart of Strasbourg. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and we had a delightful time enjoying delicious food. Each dish is a true visual and gustatory triumph. We particularly appreciated the perfectly cooked meat, served on a wooden board, which was wonderfully tender and generously portioned. The presentation is exquisite, as evidenced by the small dots of dark sauce precisely placed on the plates. We will gladly return to try the rest of the menu.

Lovely little restaurant just outside the busy city centre. Don't let the somewhat awkward location put you off! Nor the limited menu. Well made dishes and meats from the bbq cooked to order in the dining room. Good wine list with both a fair selection of bottles and plenty of wines by the glass. Swift and very friendly service, even in English. Reasonable pricing. Much better than its homely appearance suggests. I would definitely go back.

The meats were excellent. It's a shame there was no air conditioning, and please specify the ingredients of the original sauces next time, as the blueberry sauce contained fennel, so I had to pay extra for a different one. Otherwise, the service was top-notch.

Discovered this restaurant for lunch today… a must for meat lovers 🥩 Cooked over a wood fire in a fireplace. I thoroughly enjoyed the beef tagliata 🥩. Perfectly seared, it was delicious. The waitress was very pleasant and smiling. We appreciated the cloth napkins. Nice menu.

Everything is homemade, and thankfully, everything is good or very good depending on the dish—that's the positive point. What I disliked was the lack of generosity; the service was minimal, everything seemed calculated... For example, the cordon bleu, small or medium depending on your appetite, came with a handful of spätzle in a tiny container...it's ridiculous...moreover, there were two spoonfuls of butternut squash purée on the dish that we hadn't asked for or ordered. When the bill arrived, a glass of wine was missing; we asked for it to be added so as not to cheat the restaurant, and in return, he just offered a thank you... Very generous!

Excellent experience at La Chaumière restaurant in Strasbourg! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The welcome was warm, the service attentive and professional, and the dishes as beautiful as they were delicious. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and that each plate is prepared with care. The wine was also excellent. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and you truly have a delightful time. I highly recommend this restaurant and will gladly return. Well done to the whole team!

A cozy and charming restaurant. We had a wonderful, peaceful evening away from the tourist crowds, with a very pleasant and smiling waiter! The manager was also super friendly and present in the dining room. It was a pleasure to chat with him. We also had a very good meal. The starter was perfect, and the wood-fired ribeye steak was a real treat. We'll definitely keep this address in mind for our next weekend in Strasbourg.

We had a delightful time at Strasbourg's most welcoming restaurant: La Chaumière! The menu is excellent and all the dishes are prepared to perfection. Bravo to the chef and his assistant. 11/07/2026: Just a fun place, really helpful waiters. We came for the air conditioning during the recent heat wave, the air conditioning was intermittent but the food and atmosphere made us not notice. The area where the restaurant is located is perfect
11/07/2026: It's always a pleasure to stop at this place. We tried the sea bass à la carte; the dish was beautifully presented, the fish cooked perfectly, and the sirloin carpaccio was, as always, excellent. My opinion remains unchanged: it's a very good restaurant just steps from the cathedral.

Au Petit Tonnelier

24/08/2026: To conclude our three-day visit to Strasbourg, we chose this fantastic restaurant, and what a hit it was! It is a small and incredibly cozy place, located on a super charming street. Everything was perfect right from the moment we arrived: the friendly owner and the incredibly attentive and hospitable waitress served us excellently all evening. After the aperitif, we chose the fresh tuna from the specials as a starter and — due to a small language mistake of my own — the beetroot carpaccio. Both were surprising and incredibly delicious! Naturally, accompanied by a fine French wine. For the main course, we both went for the steak with peppercorn sauce. It was truly outstanding, served with extremely tasty, crispy homemade fries. You can tell: this was without a doubt the big winner of our three-day culinary visit to Strasbourg. Definitely a must-visit if you are in the city (but absolutely make sure to book in advance)!
