Previously, the Cheneaudière was all about luxury, tranquility, enchantment, and indulgence. Now, the setting and facilities remain sublime, but two worlds coexist. On one side, the hotel guests who come seeking the services of a 5-star establishment, peace and quiet, and on the other, the overcrowded crowds of day spa guests, in a hurry, seeking quantity to maximize their day's profitability. The facilities and buffets are besieged. You have to be constantly on your toes to have the chance to enjoy a jacuzzi or a sauna.
Priority seems to be given to this new clientele. A change in policy or management? An excessive lure of profit? This is no longer a 5-star establishment. Paradoxically, while the spa is losing quality and its soul, the restaurant continues to improve, with a well-deserved first star and a path clearly towards a second. After reading the management's responses, new changing rooms will be created to better accommodate the increased number of day spa guests… but is that really the problem?! One thing is certain: this will not improve the quality of the residents' stay. We used to dream about our future stay here. Now we'll be looking for another little paradise.
A special thought goes out to the staff, who were trained to excel and are now struggling with this new concept and must be completely lost. Hang in there. At least we won't be coming back.

We were a little disappointed by the size of the room, which was rather small!
The food was decent, nothing special. However, the sommelier wasn't very friendly; he served us a sparkling wine that smelled old (from 2018). He admitted this afterward, but offered no compensation. Furthermore, his wine suggestion for the dinner wasn't very well chosen.

For several years now, we've been visiting La Cheneaudière, either through day spa packages or hotel stays. The unique character of the place has been described many times, but you really have to experience it firsthand to fully appreciate the soothing and rejuvenating atmosphere of the hotel experience orchestrated on this site nestled in nature. The staff is generally very helpful, efficient, and welcoming, despite a phenomenal turnover rate (though it's certainly not easy to retain qualified staff in such a remote area). Beyond that, while the spa facilities are admittedly a bit dated, they still more than meet the standards expected for the category. The rooms, for their part, are truly cozy, very well-equipped, impeccably clean, and the bedding is exceptionally comfortable. As for dining, the room that combines the bar and the breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea areas is a true gem of décor and natural well-being. All the aforementioned meals are a triumph of simplicity, centered around expertly selected local products. The self-service format doesn't detract from the luxurious atmosphere, but the cooking area, while designed to serve dishes that "come out quickly," sometimes seems too small with only one person at the stove. Nevertheless, over the years, the afternoon tea, so subtly nostalgic, has lost some of its variety and originality. As for dinner, both restaurants offer a very enjoyable experience. However, we are puzzled by the positioning of "Le Chêne" compared to its Michelin-starred counterpart, "Le Feuillage." The price difference in favor of the former isn't that significant, but the culinary experience lacks consistency for that price point, particularly with the appetizers.
In any case, we will certainly return to relive this delightful interlude.

Dear Sir/Madam,
As regular guests of La Cheneaudière, which we appreciate for its setting and upscale positioning, we nevertheless wished to express our disappointment following our last visit.
This time, a series of malfunctions and inconveniences significantly marred our experience, to the point of breaking the atmosphere of calm and exclusivity that we usually come to your establishment seeking.
Wellness Center
- Noticeable noise and vibrations in the stairway leading to the second floor.
- Excessive noise level in some pools, with very audible conversations between guests, incompatible with a space meant to be dedicated to relaxation.
- The impression of a wellness center that has become more "mainstream," which clearly detracts from the expected premium ambiance.
- The tepidarium was devoid of steam during our visit, suggesting that the equipment was partially out of service.
- The steam shower had hot and cold water reversed compared to the displayed instructions. - Footpath: Two out of three jets were out of service.
- The first floor area was noisy, both due to the machinery and the strong echo.
- Eventually, a feeling of boredom quickly set in during the experience, due to the lack of functionality of several facilities.
Dining
- Incorrect buffet signage; the signs did not correspond to the dishes served.
- Meats served cold at the buffet.
- Tea unavailable at the first-floor bar.
These issues, taken individually, might seem minor, but their accumulation clearly detracted from our stay, which is regrettable given the advertised standard and the price charged.
We would, of course, like to highlight the positive points:
- The buffet was generally very good in terms of taste.
The decor remains as refined and elegant as ever.
We are sending you this message not out of gratuitous criticism, but because we know the level of quality your establishment is capable of and because we are regular guests. This experience, for once, did not seem to align with the image of excellence you project.
We hope these comments will be taken into concrete consideration.

My review concerns only the day spa. The spa is really very good, although in my opinion there are too many saunas and not enough jacuzzis in winter. It's a shame the unique facilities are an extra charge. Lunch was enormous; we thoroughly enjoyed it, with so many choices. Thank you to all the staff who were so attentive! ❤️ Afternoon tea was great too, with plenty of options. Thank you for the souvenir photo booth. We had a wonderful time until the major drawback: the changing rooms 😤 How can you offer only four cubicles in such a small space for 30 people leaving at the same time? It's unacceptable for your establishment. We were crammed in like cattle; it's really mistreating your customers. The tranquility of the day vanished in a minute as we jostled to reach our lockers. You absolutely must expand the space, not just offer staggered check-out times. It leaves a very bitter taste at check-out. It's a real shame. I've deducted a star for this. This doesn't make me want to come back.

Hello to the entire Cheneaudière team,
We stayed at your establishment from January 17th to 18th and it was, overall, a superb experience, both in terms of the spa and the room.
The floatation tank was a fantastic experience and we highly recommend it.
The tasting of four Alsatian wines was also very interesting and surprising (being from Champagne, we were delighted to discover such wonderful wines from your region).
However, the slight disappointment during our stay was our experience at your gourmet restaurant, and this was unfortunately due to simple errors that could have been avoided:
To begin with, for the aperitif, my partner ordered a glass of Billecart Salmon Brut Sous Bois, but in the end, she was served a glass of Billecart Salmon Brut Réserve.
Then, during the meal, we noticed a slight lack of attention and explanation from the staff (my partner, who is allergic to wheat, had opted for the gluten-free version of the tasting menu). On several occasions, there were errors. For example, since I had ordered the standard menu without restrictions, there were additional items in my dish that had been removed from hers. We received no explanation for this, and we thought the menu could be fully adapted. There was also a mix-up with the scallop dish; it was supposed to be heated with a blowtorch at the table, but hers was forgotten.
Furthermore, we would have appreciated two butter knives and two butter dishes so we could both enjoy all the elements of the meal. Given that my partner has a severe wheat allergy, we couldn't necessarily share the butter, as we risked contaminating it with regular bread.
Aside from these issues, it was a real pleasure to dine at your establishment, and we will gladly return.

We stayed at the Hôtel & Spa La Cheneaudière to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience.
We loved the hotel:
the decor is regal, the welcome is warm, and the breakfast is exceptional, featuring only local products.
The rooms are very well-equipped and elegantly decorated, and the spa is simply extraordinary—a true haven of peace.
But the real highlight was the Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Feuillage.
The table with the sand drawings is mesmerizing, a truly timeless experience.
The courses are breathtaking, the wine pairings are perfect, and every detail is meticulously planned.
The kitchen tour was particularly interesting: thank you to Julien, the sous-chef, for this special moment and for explaining the workings of a top-tier Michelin-starred kitchen.
A huge thank you also to the wait staff:
two young men, Lorenzo and another waiter whose name I unfortunately forget, as well as the bartender.
All three were exceptional: friendly, attentive, professional, and offered excellent advice.
True stars of customer service ⭐️
We wish them every success in their professional lives.
Thank you to the entire team for this magical stay.
