Always a real pleasure to have lunch or dinner at La Cigale, an iconic spot in the heart of Nantes. A beautiful setting, impeccable and efficient service, smiling and welcoming staff, and quality cuisine. Good value for money.

Originally from Nantes, we know La Cigale well. Still as good as ever, the only downside is why go looking for langoustines in Scotland, so-called ice langoustines, when the region has several fishing ports offering live langoustines at reasonable prices during this season, a shame for the planet and for fishing professionals.

The setting is magnificent, and this restaurant is a true Nantes institution. The food, for a brasserie, is decent, but less exceptional than the ambiance. We were a group of 24 people of various nationalities. When we made the reservation, we were told we only had a two-hour window for dinner, and indeed, after exactly 1:58 AM, we were asked to pay and vacate the table. This completely ruins the charm and experience of the place and makes us not want to return or recommend this brasserie at all. Moreover, the non-French members of our group were taken aback by this lack of service, which is inconsistent with the prestige of the establishment.
