La Cloche sur Lille

Very pleasant server (at first!!). There were 4 of us. We consumed more than €85 worth of drinks and board which were rather mediocre I must say but still decent. Given our generosity we tried to get a free fries (sarcastically of course, but you never know) which was only €4. We were very disappointed by the reaction of the waiter who must not have understood the joke and who told us that it was not polite to ask that kind of thing. We can be quite the kind of balls-breaking customers I can imagine, but the customer remains king 💍✌️and so a smile would have been appreciated rather than a remark which made us less appreciative of the rest of our evening. For this small final disappointment I give a score of 6.5/10 because the setting remained very nice in my opinion.

3.7 I think is a justified rating. The food is not bad, the service is rather basic, very fast, in a chain, we were served quickly, on the other hand the atmosphere in the dining room where we are packed like sardines, you have to appreciate... the tables are very close you can hear all the neighbors' conversation, it's friendly you could say but if you're looking for privacy you won't find it here. As a result, it’s quite noisy too. In fact the experience is a little lessened by this side of everyone being on top of each other. We came 5 years ago and it wasn't like that, there weren't high chairs yet but normal tables that were spaced further apart. The dish was good and the prices are those of a brasserie in this central location in Lille.
