La Cote d'Or sur Nuits-Saint-Georges

Friendly staff, nice food and wines, we had a really good time! Price is not super high, but certainly not the cheapest around. Unfortunately I can only give 4, but it is really a 4,5/5.

For a restaurant in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the prices are quite reasonable, on the higher end compared to surrounding cities like Dijon. I ordered a vegetarian burger and was unfortunately extremely disappointed. It's essentially the same as the regular burger and the same price, but with a breaded vegetable patty that was clearly frozen. There's very little effort put into it; I expected a slightly higher-quality veggie patty for the price. The tomatoes are roughly chopped, which is rather unpleasant. A nice touch was the eggplant caviar in the burger, which added a bit of freshness. However, the pizzas here are very good, at a price that certainly beats the competition in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the quality of the ingredients. I recommend ordering dishes with pesto, as it's homemade. You get that real, fresh pesto feeling, which is very welcome in this heat. About a year and a half ago, I tried their eggs meurette, which weren't very expensive for the quality of the dish. In short, if you're on a budget and want to eat well, I recommend this restaurant. We have eaten here several times already and were always received and served very warmly. The restaurant is architecturally unique. A ground floor surrounded by two narrow levels with tables for two. This restaurant has a particularly nice, recommended selection of tasty pizzas that can be eaten on-site or taken away. Everything is prepared on the spot. The pizzas are not only incredibly fresh and very tasty, but also very large. I couldn't finish the pizza. In response, they kindly offered to let you take the rest home. The aperitifs and wines on offer are also highly recommended. You can also order a number of regional wines by the glass, which keeps the price of your meal within reasonable limits. Here is a price overview of one of our orders: A glass of Crémant de Bourgogne for 2 people, 2 pizzas, two glasses of regional wine, and two coffees cost us 63.4 euros in total. That comes to about 30 to 35 euros per person, depending on your pizza choice. We have always left here very satisfied. We will definitely be coming back. On busy days, making a reservation is recommended, but if you go for dinner around opening time, there is always room available.

The service is dynamic without being rushed, attentive without being intrusive—a balance that's not so easy to achieve. In the kitchen, they take their work seriously. The ingredients are carefully selected, the dishes are meticulously prepared, and it shows from the first bite. You go from a straightforward and generous starter to a main course that truly delivers, culminating in a dessert that you won't regret ordering. There's not a single dull moment; everything is perfectly executed from start to finish. What's also striking is the expertise without pretension—in the best sense of the word: demanding, yet approachable, and clearly driven by people who love their craft. An address to remember, and one to recommend without hesitation.
