La Fleur de Sel sur La Rochelle

A typical tourist trap. As is usual in France, we were asked if we wanted water... which is also usual in France: that you get a bottle of tap water (free of charge). Certainly due in part to the language barrier, but also out of sheer rudeness towards tourists, we were given 1 liter of still water, which cost a whopping €6.50. The food: well, let's just say it wasn't great. I had salmon wrapped in parchment paper; the menu didn't specify what was included. There was some unidentifiable vegetable. Overcooked, fried to death. The salmon was okay. For dessert: profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. I'm in the land of desserts and pastries, but how do you get profiteroles so dry? The service was okay. The food arrived quickly. It would be nice if everything actually arrived at the same time. Oh well. Not recommended.

A first visit that I'll definitely repeat! Excellent cuisine, beautiful presentation, attentive and helpful staff, easy access, very good value for money. Thank you all!

We ate very well and were served by attentive and unpretentious staff. If we were to be in the area again in the future, we would definitely return.

The meal matched the order. The wine served was not the same as the best on the wine list. The restaurant owner offered no apology and showed a lack of professionalism. The waiters performed adequately. The tableware service was unprofessional (chipped plates with limescale buildup, a leaking ice bag for the wine that flooded the table...).

The quality of the food varied; for example, the ceviche was inedible, the sweetbreads were bland, and the portions were rather small. The wines were good.

The welcome, service, and atmosphere of the dining room were pleasant. However, we were disappointed by the generous portions of food, which lacked flavor.
