La Gare sur Bayeux

22/02/2026: We visited this café/bistro twice in quick succession. On our first visit (just the two of us with our dog), everything was truly excellent: very friendly service, delicious food, and a hot chocolate that we particularly remember fondly. On our second visit, this time with three of us and our dog, we were again seated at the same very small table, despite the extra person. In our opinion, this didn't do justice to the limited space and comfort, and it unnecessarily restricted our visit. Unfortunately, the quality this time didn't live up to our first visit either. The hot chocolate tasted noticeably different, and the food was mediocre at best. My son and I ordered the same dish (a kind of burger), which was also served incorrectly: I received both bottom patties, and my son received both top patties. As a result, the flavors were, of course, inconsistent. We found this very disappointing, as our first impression was entirely positive. We hope it was an isolated incident, because this café has a lot of potential.

16/02/2026: While passing through Bayeux, we stopped twice for breakfast. Very good, with a very warm welcome and quick service.
