La Grande Fontaine sur Caunes-Minervois

A typical village restaurant. It's also a bar/tobacconist with a restaurant. The atmosphere is truly village-like. The friendliness is unparalleled. We loved it! The menu is enticing, and the cassoulet is exactly as you'd expect: generous with a capital G.

Great local spot in Caunes-Minervois. The menu de jour is great value and absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly despite our very poor French - half a litre of wine for €6 along with the delicious food makes this a perfect spot under the trees. Absolutely lovely experience, we hope to be back one day - thank you!

The young owner is energetic and very friendly, always ready to share her advice about the region. What a lovely surprise! A small village café-restaurant, I was so glad to find something to eat on a Monday. But apparently, the place was well-known because the terrace was full, shaded by trees, soothed by the charming sound of the large fountain. The service was efficient and friendly, and the set menu was €17—honestly, nothing outrageous. A very generous portion, everything was perfect: the cooking, the taste. It exuded tradition, a love of a job well done, and respect for the customer. Oh, how we wish we had places like this everywhere! A quick stop in our campervan with our three huskies. 2 PM, service ended, but we were still served with patience and courtesy for two excellent salads and desserts. What more can we say? We highly recommend it!
