La Grange a Dime sur Montreuil-Bellay

We booked for a group of 18 friends. Without exception, we all LOVED our time at La Grange. The meal, the setup, and the service were all absolutely perfect! It's not always easy to find restaurants of such high quality that accept large groups. We'll definitely keep this address in mind if we're ever in the area again!

A culinary journey back in time! We were transported to the Middle Ages by the atmosphere, the music, our waitress's attire, and the contents of our plates. There are no surprises here. A single set menu, with fouées (a type of flatbread) as its central theme, which you fill with the dishes brought to you. And these dishes are high-quality and made with local products! A pure delight! For €29, you get an aperitif, amuse-bouche, starter, main course, dessert, coffee/tea/herbal tea, and a beverage. The value for money is excellent! Excellent restaurant. Worth a detour;

The medieval atmosphere is fantastic, the food is excellent and plentiful, the service is perfect, our server was particularly friendly.

Excellent service, top-notch food, the menu is truly excellent. You really should make a detour to Montreuil-Bellay to eat there; you won't be disappointed. I'll definitely go back.

It seems to us that the portions have decreased significantly. The fouées are tiny and served sparingly. The butter isn't good. The lamb's lettuce served with duck confit is acceptable. Only goat cheese is offered, with no other alternative, unlike most other restaurants of this type. This is the only restaurant where the fouées are served by hand; everywhere else, tongs are used. For us, the change isn't for the better, a sentiment shared by the next table.

A wonderful discovery of local specialties in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. All for a very reasonable price.

The decor is unusual, the staff in costume. No particular atmosphere. Classic dishes, but well-prepared. Warm welcome from the owner. Set menu, you get the impression you'll get too much, but not at all. A 15cl glass of wine or apple juice as an aperitif is a bit stingy. However, allow 2 hours. The "foudres" (a type of small, round cake) are distributed sparingly, so you might have to wait 15 minutes to continue your starter. They bring you the main course you haven't finished, the rillettes, because they've run out of "foudre," and so on. The cheese course arrives before you've been refilled with "foudres" to finish the rillettes and mogettes... And then they give you one "foudre" each! The waitress was unpleasant. We had the misfortune of saying we thought we'd been forgotten, and we received three consecutive remarks. She practically crushed the "foudres" in the basket with a curt "Is that all right with you?" in a very appropriate tone. If it hadn't been a set menu, we would have left. The staff were running around like crazy, you could feel the tension. At the beginning of the meal, I wanted to come back with my husband, but I definitely won't be going back!
