La Hache sur Strasbourg

Escargots like any other in france, they were good, but I never had bad ones before. Not even for half the price. Ravioli with shrimp filling was good in balance and presentation was really nice. This I recommend. The seared pork belly with a potato strip(?) looked really sad and the taste was ok. But is not worth anything special. The beef had almost no taste, no blood and the onions and jus redux were just thrown on top and extremely overwhelming in taste. The amount of salt was extreme. I could not finish the steak because of a tendon (which chef does not remove it?). It was a chuck tender/jewish cut, which needs preparation before cooking. Also the fries were a bit dry, but ok. However, also way too salt. I am really confused about the reviews being so good. I am afraid people confuse salt and butter with good and balanced taste. The entree/starter was good enough I forgot to complain apparently. The wines served with the food would also be subpar to my opinion, but this is too subjective since french wines are not my preferred choice. The inside was very hot and humid and is not nice if you can not handle really hot situations. But was ok to handle, although some oxygen would be nice. Service was very good, kind and in english as well, so very good. It was necessary to give your complete menu at once, which I don't prefer but I can understand in busy situations. They did not ask us if we would like our next course and just served it (but was since we had limited time). The cocktails tasted really good, unique and had good value for their price. So go for some snacks, entrees and cocktails I guess.

Very well looked after environment in its simplicity, delicious dishes and above average food quality. We were able to taste the local cuisine. We also ordered a children's dish which was super appreciated. Friendly and helpful staff and really fair prices. We will definitely return, highly recommended.

Visited this restaurant on easter weekend, and was not disppointed. Just remember to book ahead, saw so many people turned away.

A cozy and classy atmosphere, careful service and amazing food. The meat here is amazing. We ate without reservation, but we recomend you to do it to eat here. It's always pretty full.
