La Hache sur Strasbourg

A lovely restaurant with a refined atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the grilled beef bone was particularly exceptional. The service could be improved, but all in all, definitely recommended!

We visited the restaurant as a party of four. The appetizers made an excellent impression: ceviche, foie gras, and escargots – all truly delicious. We can also highly recommend the veal rack as a main course. UPDATE: I have to change my review because I had heartburn and stomach problems this morning. While the frog legs are a classic of French cuisine, they didn't personally win us over. This doesn't mean they were poorly prepared, though – they simply weren't to our taste. The crispy sea bream for €27, however, was the disappointment of the evening. The menu stated "crispy sea bream" with fish soup. What was served was a plate with a kind of thick, tomato-colored sauce or soup. On top were small cubes of potato, presumably fried, but they were completely tasteless and turned into a mushy mess by the sauce. A fish fillet, apparently steamed, but definitely not crispy or fried, sat on the potatoes. It was also very bland. On top was a slice of toasted bread with a few drops of yellow sauce that resembled mayonnaise. Overall, the dish didn't work for us at all. I ate the fish, but everything else remained on the plate. Unfortunately, the server didn't notice this, and they also forgot the wine to go with the fish—we had to remind them. The burger with potatoes, on the other hand, was very good and we enjoyed it. We'd especially like to highlight the desserts: we ordered four different ones, and all of them were excellent. It's definitely worth it. The cocktails and beer were also very tasty.
