La Halle Aux Blés sur Obernai

We recently visited La Halle aux Blés, and the experience ended up with a weak 4 out of 5. The food was quite decent in taste, but several details let it down. The most disappointing thing was that the food was served lukewarm. When you order spare ribs, you expect them to be piping hot, and unfortunately, they were a bit off. It quickly gives the impression that the food has been sitting out for too long before being served. The salad that came with it was also a bit limp and lacked the freshness you would expect. In addition, it took a while for the food to arrive, and it makes the experience weaker when the temperature of the food is not quite there. That said, the coffee was a real boost and lifted the overall impression. It was both good and well-balanced, and the ending made the visit overall drag on. All in all, a completely okay experience with clear potential for improvement, but where the ending makes it land at a weak 4.

Tourist-sized meat, like shoe leather... A waiter who doesn't take your order and forgets about you... This is the second time this has happened to me! I'll organize the group's meal elsewhere next time.

Friendly service, generous portion. A shame the vol-au-vent wasn't very hot and was very salty. P.S.: I didn't say anything, but it's obvious when the chef shows up and laughs at comments about the salt.... Otherwise, apart from the chef's ego, good.

A friendly restaurant. The dishes are high quality and generous. The servers are very kind and the welcome is excellent. We had a wonderful time.

Absolutely typical of Alsace. Delicious homemade vol-au-vent and onion tart. The waitress was quick, efficient, and very friendly. Don't listen to the other negative reviews.

Arriving without a reservation on Saturday evening, we received a warm welcome and were seated upstairs. It's a historic building in Obernai, and the decor is typically Alsatian. The setting is pleasant, but you have to appreciate the hunting trophies hanging on the walls. It's not really my style, but it's clearly part of the town's medieval heritage, so I respect that. The food was very good, with excellent value for money. We ordered an XXL rib, which was truly enormous, and an Angus ribeye steak, both superb! It's ideally located in the historic center. I highly recommend eating there if you're visiting Obernai, but I advise booking in advance. We went during the off-season, and yet the restaurant was almost full.
