La Maison Bonne Maman sur Paris

05/12/2024: We dined there nearly 30 years ago celebrating our 25th anniversary in Paris. We had read a glowing review in a British national newspaper when Alain was a young, up and coming chef. Booked our meal via a letter. In all honesty we were completely naive having little idea of what to expect and possibly our nervousness showed. However, we were given first class attention: at one point we had three waiters at the same time serving our main meal. The food was utterly delicious, my wife had Lobster, I had rack of lamb. We were not wine experts but the Somelier talked us through the choices without a hint of condescension. A quaint custom of the era we only found out when we talked after the meal: only my menu had prices! The meal was the most expensive we have ever had and worth every Franc! Still our finest eating experience ever.
