Excellent, very friendly. After a hike, we arrived at the end of service and they were no longer serving, so we decided to have a drink. They still managed to find us something to eat (pork loin) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Located at the foot of Mont Mézenc, the welcome and the food were top-notch. Thank you!

A delightful surprise in Les Estables! Don't let the unassuming appearance of the building, nestled on the hills above the village, bordering the forest, put you off… La Maison Forestière is truly worth a visit! We had lunch there as a family and were won over by the set menu at €30, which offers incredible value for money. The menu inspires confidence right from the start: it showcases the many local producers who supply the establishment with fresh, carefully selected products. The starter, an Ardèche platter, is simply exceptional! A generous, colorful, and beautifully composed plate, where each little dish is a discovery: crispy goat cheese, pork terrine with chestnuts, falafel, green salad, lentils, melon and watermelon balls, caramelized onion, shredded red cabbage, olives, gherkins… and many other delightful surprises. The dish was so stunning when it arrived that we completely forgot to take a picture: we immediately devoured it! At that altitude, it's understandable that we were hungry! And above all, it was hard to resist such an appetizing plate… Then came the main course, with a choice of meat or fish of the day. We chose the pork loin, accompanied by a slice of herb-infused caillette (a type of pâté), wholegrain mustard, and a homemade sauce. And again, what generosity: four different side dishes: porcini mushroom purée, sautéed zucchini, risotto, and orzo with tomatoes. It was hearty, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. And dessert was the perfect ending to the meal: a plum and almond tart with whipped cream, a scoop of strawberry ice cream, blueberry panna cotta, and fresh fruit, all accompanied by a delicious verbena sauce. A true festival of flavors! The service is on par with the food: pleasant, friendly, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Kudos to the owners for this wonderful restaurant! Generous, locally sourced, carefully prepared, and incredibly fresh cuisine at a truly remarkable price. We absolutely recommend this place! And above all, don't let yourself be discouraged by some negative reviews which, in our opinion, don't reflect our experience at all. We had a fantastic time as a family and will definitely be back!

A very warm welcome. Dinner and breakfast were excellent (both in quality and quantity). The room was spacious and the bathrooms very clean. I highly recommend this forest lodge. Can't wait to return.

Incredible and thoughtful welcome!!! (We were cycling, and they offered to refill our water bottles; a couple arrived with a dog and a bowl of water was brought to them without us even asking...). And what can I say about the meal... simply exceptional! Thank you, this break did us so much good!

A wonderful stay and a warm welcome from Eva and François. We arrived by bike and had dinner and slept there. The gîte was very comfortable, the shower was nice and hot, and the evening meal and breakfast were superb. We'll be back! Thank you!!!
