We reserved a table for four last year on New Year’s Eve and then again at Christmas. The food was very good and much less touristy than the neighboring restaurants. The wine was excellent, as were the escargots and the delicious salad. I highly recommend the Menu du Jour! Our dog was immediately given a bowl of water without us having to ask, which I found very thoughtful and sympathetic. I really like the natural atmosphere of this restaurant…it always felt very authentic. We‘ll come back for sure! 😊
One thing I’ve noticed in Menton in general is that locals are automatically given a jug of water at the table… while tourists usually have to ask for it. I don’t think there should be a difference but this applies to many cafés and restaurants, not just this one.

Ode to the Tenderness of La Mandragore's Chuck Steak
Once upon a time, on the Place aux Herbes, there was a chuck steak so tender you'd think it had been raised under glass, lulled by Vivaldi sonatas, and massaged with organic olive oil every morning.

A beautiful little restaurant in the heart of Menton! The food was fresh, creative, and incredibly delicious. Super friendly service and a wonderful atmosphere on the Place aux Herbes – simply a place to feel at home. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back!
