While in Rennes for SPACE, we had dinner at the brasserie, which offers a menu of very well-executed traditional French dishes. Only the service wasn't up to par. I recommend it for the food.

The service needs improvement. The beef cheek and smoked salmon were excellent.

stunningly good seafood platter. Doesn't feel like a tourist trap -- good value for money. Only minor flaw is large-screen televisions flickering in the background. Stay classy please, France!

In the city center, the food was excellent and the service was fast, but there were two issues: the music played non-stop made it impossible to hear each other, and the waiter didn't seem happy to be there, he was so cold.

The staff are very friendly and smiling, the service is excellent, and the food deserves far more than 5 stars.

The food portions were incredibly generous – definitely larger than what we would normally expect in the UK. We ordered the main course and dessert rather than the full set menu, but even so, the amount of food was more than enough, even for an adult man. The sandwich from the set menu was outstanding and unlike any ordinary sandwich you would find in the UK. The toast was perfectly crunchy, with a subtle sweetness and a lovely buttery, sugary aroma. The meat of the day was slow-cooked pork, which was incredibly tender, full of flavour, and had none of the strong pork smell that some dishes can have. The fish of the day was salmon tartare served with chips on the side. Although it looked like a small portion at first, it was actually very filling. The salmon was dressed generously with olive oil, giving it a soft, delicate texture that melted in the mouth, complemented by the rich flavour of the olives. For dessert, there were three options: ice cream, rice pudding, and floating island. The dessert portions were fairly standard, but the quality was excellent. The floating island was light, cold, and refreshing. We also ordered an extra dessert, the Napoleon, which was fantastic – crisp, rich, and perfectly baked, without being burnt or overcooked as can sometimes happen elsewhere. The restaurant itself was easy to spot from outside, with an attractive exterior and a welcoming atmosphere. Inside, the dining area was quiet, fresh, and very comfortable. The tables were clean, there was plenty of space between seats, and the air conditioning was greatly appreciated during the summer heatwave in France. The only downside was the toilets, which looked a little dated and had a small amount of litter on the floor, although all essential facilities were available. Finally, special thanks to our waitress, who was extremely friendly and always greeted us with a lovely smile. Unfortunately, I did not ask for her name, but her excellent service made our visit even more enjoyable. Excellent brasserie, my dishes arrived quickly (10-15 minutes), we were on the terrace and the atmosphere was fantastic!
