La Réale sur Chalon-Sur-Saone

Rating: Good, but could definitely be better We had reserved a table, but upon arrival, the restaurant seemed to have forgotten our reservation. As a result, we were seated in a tiny, overheated room next to a large table of 10 to 15 people. The atmosphere wasn't ideal, and we had to ask for air conditioning to make it bearable. To their credit, the staff did offer us three glasses of champagne as an apology, which we appreciated. As for the food, it was generally "above average." I wouldn't recommend the snails, though: I don't know what the chef was trying to achieve, but the result was clearly disappointing. My sweetbreads, on the other hand, were very good. It's a shame they were served with a potato gratin... with cheese. Cheese in a potato gratin? Seriously, that's ridiculous. In summary: a restaurant with potential, but which needs to review certain details, both in its organization and the consistency of its dishes. It can do better.

It's a shame to book a table for lunch on a weekday and end up at the table right next to the entrance (noise, smell... not very pleasant). Despite requesting a different table, they refused to move us. At the end of our meal, there were still empty tables. The staff were more or less friendly, it varied. Luckily, the food was good and plentiful. I wanted to treat my parents, to make them happy, so they were a bit ambivalent, even though we enjoyed the meal.

I ate very, very well, thank you for the fast service despite the crowds. The waitresses were friendly and pleasant. Thank you again for this culinary experience.

The products are fresh and well-prepared. A pleasant wine list. The service is just right: neither too long nor too fast. It's a pleasant restaurant, perfect for a romantic getaway.
