Not being from the area, my wife introduced me to this restaurant. I was truly delighted: discovering northern-style fries, so delicious 🤤🥹🙏 impeccable service, and a very warm welcome. I will gladly return as soon as I arrive in Douai 🙏

Excellent service. Great value for money, nothing to complain about. We had a really great time. The fries were delicious, the Maroilles sauce was divine, whether on the mussels or my steak. And the service was truly top-notch. A very warm welcome, friendly service, and smiles. Thank you so much!

This place is very welcoming, it is pleasant and there is a very good atmosphere; the meal is very good and generous.

It's a bit of a reversal of fortune; I only just saw the comments left about this restaurant after, not before, my visit. I decided to stop reading them, as the unkindness of some people is unfortunately all too common in our society (some comments, in my opinion, went too far), and it wouldn't have allowed me to enjoy this unexpected and pleasant family outing in this place, so well-known in Douai, which I only knew by sight, and for which I'm so glad I went. A vintage establishment, "in its original state," as they say, but incredibly spacious, bright, and clean. How can one not think of our parents or grandparents in this place, who probably, in more carefree times, shared a romantic plate of fries or a Sunday lunch? The service might seem a little slow, especially if you have young children at the table with you, and everyone knows they can get a bit restless after a while, but isn't it Sunday, and don't we have all the time in the world? People complain about a hectic life where they don't have time to see or enjoy anything, but then they grumble as soon as it's time to simply relax and enjoy life. A big thank you to Guillaine, our waitress, for her kindness, good humor, and smile, which added so much to our time here. As for the food (and I do mean food, because I assure you, contrary to what you might read, no one in my family has been poisoned or ended up in the emergency room), the plates were generously portioned and beautifully presented, even for children, who received the same special treatment as the adults. A minor drawback, perhaps, was the fries, which were a little overcooked for my wife and me. Maybe it was just the bottom of the fryer, but isn't there something for everyone? This didn't stop us from finishing our plates and enjoying our meal. This restaurant offers good value for money for those who want to share a pleasant moment with family or friends without breaking the bank. For those who want to step back in time, have some time to spare, and enjoy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, this is the place for you. For our modern-day princes and duchesses who want to dine in the west wing of the castle and eat with a slingshot (slingshot, castle... very medieval, isn't it?), look elsewhere. It will prevent this restaurant from receiving undeserved ratings and reviews.

The staff and owner will welcome you in a relaxed and courteous atmosphere. From the chip shop to the dining room, all the dishes are delicious. The entire establishment, and especially the restrooms, are always spotless.

Very warm welcome, the meal was very good, a place where you feel good, and which makes you want to come back, I recommend this establishment.

We come here regularly, either for the brasserie or the chip shop. It's always a pleasure to go there, to see the super friendly staff, especially a little shout-out to our friend Ghislaine (sorry if there's a mistake in your name 😉). We were there again last night. We didn't see Dominique again, which is a shame. We'll miss Monsieur Frites with his humor, his smile, and his good humor. We wish him a very happy and well-deserved retirement. See you soon.
