La Salamandre sur Najac

A good restaurant with quality home-style cooking. Very generous portions. Pleasant welcome. A lovely young waitress who was always on the go. Attentive and smiling.

We had lunch twice this weekend at La Salamandre. The food is excellent, delicious. The setting is lovely, whether it's the terrace with its geraniums and spider plants overhead, offering a bonus view of the verdant Aveyron hills, or the slightly cozier interior. Indeed, it's just the two of them running the entire restaurant, and they do it masterfully, despite the pressure and the crowds. I sincerely believe that such hard work deserves praise rather than criticism. Especially since the restaurant's qualities are clearly evident in the dishes, the service, the ingredients… In short, a truly deserving place, one worth discovering… but in moderation, to give them a bit of a break. We'll be back sometime. We'll keep it in our travel journal.

Good place. The food was good, the service a bit slow but that depends a lot on the restaurant's facilities. But the waitress was great.

If you're looking for a place away from the tourists and with a local atmosphere, this is the perfect spot. Everything you could expect from a village bar. Friendly service and staff. The food is more than excellent for the price. And most importantly: it's all completely homemade and tastes amazing.

Good place to have lunch, very complete dishes, very tender entrecote, very good pork ribs and all with good garnish. The duck and foie-gras salad was also large and filling. Two of us ordered the menu at €17 with dessert without drink. Good quality/quantity/price ratio. Don't miss the terrace at the back, fantastic views of the castle and surroundings. The only thing, and we are seeing that it is the same wherever you go in Languedoc, is the delay in the whole lunch process.

The restaurant has a patio/terrace at the back with excellent views of the castle. The daily menu is very good. Large portions and good prices. We parked in the square 50 meters away.

We enjoyed an excellent fresh and crisp salad with a beautiful view of Najac Castle from the shaded terrace. The waitress was friendly and smiling and even gave our dog water. We highly recommend it.

Returned to this restaurant after a 10 year absence. The atmosphere just as good as we remembered. Spectacular views of the castle from the rear terrace. The food was amazing. A great choice, to please hungry meat eaters but also vegetarians. The staff really helpful and friendly. We turned up without a reservation for lunch as a party of 8 and they moved tables around to accommodate us. A must visit establishment for good food, amazing views and value for money.

A very warm service and very good food make this small restaurant a very respectable place to eat when passing through Najac.
