La Table 38 sur Saint-Emilion

We had the sole and volaille supreme . The fish black rice came with so much cheese in long strings I had to send it back because strange combination with fish however it was solved expertly and correctly and we both had a lovely lunch . In winter and with less heat flies people we’d probably stay for a coffee . It’s inside dining with the tiniest kitchen next to one toilet , so that makes it all feel a bit crowded especially in hot weather . The staff were super friendly and attentive. Reservations recommended.

Honestly, it was perfect. The dishes were of very high quality, almost bistronomic. The service lived up to the restaurant's reputation, which is to say, perfect. The only downside... the price was a bit high for the overall experience. But the setting made us forget about that.

Wonderful dinner with my family who just moved to Montagne, adjacent to Saint-Emilion. Delicious appetizers and entrees (Duck Confit, Pork Belly, and Sole) to accompany a beautiful Macon-Chardonnay and Grand Cru Classe red blend of Merlot, Cab and Cab Franc. The owner waited on us and was very pleasant and attentive. Must try!

The food was of great quality and value. Very nice and attentive service from Sorya, who also suggested a very good bottle of wine to me.

This is exactly what you want from a classic French restaurant. Very friendly service, full of locals, a short and interesting menu and, of course, exemplary cooking. We booked a table of 8 for my daughter’s birthday and we could not have been happier. Madame was very friendly and attentive. She recommended some very good local wines. Service was impeccable despite the place being full and staff being very busy. Highly recommend.

Disappointing lunch at Table 38. We ordered two appetizers and three main courses. The appetizers were decent, but nothing to write home about. The foie gras seemed bland, and the octopus salad was rather small. As for the main courses, the duck confit was dry and salty, which overpowered everything else. The hanger steak had a hair in it, which we immediately pointed out, and it was replaced without question, which we appreciated. However, the replacement hanger steak was raw in the center and difficult to chew. We would have preferred it cooked rare or medium-rare. The service felt impersonal, with a rather cold welcome. — Update: After this review was published, the manager contacted me to discuss our experience. I appreciated this approach, which allowed me to better understand the restaurant's context, the difficulties encountered during peak season, and the investment required to run a small restaurant 7 days a week. My review was not intended to be harmful or malicious; it simply reflects our experience during that lunch. Despite differing viewpoints, I'm glad I was able to speak directly with the manager and get a glimpse behind the scenes.

Very good and not too expensive. The welcome is friendly and the service is excellent. However, there's no terrace. I recommend this restaurant.

A small restaurant located in the heart of Saint-Émilion. We had a wonderful evening; the restaurant staff were very pleasant and offered excellent advice. The food was delicious; we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our congratulations to the chef. The quality-price ratio was more than fair. A victim of its own success, reservations are essential. But what a find! Thank you for this delightful taste of local cuisine.

The location is ideal, the ingredients are high quality, but the very long wait between the starter and the main course made us forget to order dessert. The restaurant is clean, the table a little wobbly, however, we felt disorganized in the service despite the waitress's good intentions, which weren't enough. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant as the value for money was quite disappointing. Furthermore, the dining room was very noisy.
