L'Envers du Decor sur Saint-Emilion

Reservation is definitely recommended—we booked ours a few weeks in advance. We enjoyed lunch in the beautiful shaded courtyard, which stayed comfortable even on a warm day thanks to the surrounding stone walls. The foie gras was delicious, the local white fish was cooked perfectly, and the crème brûlée was excellent. Friendly, attentive service rounded out a very enjoyable meal. A wonderful spot if you’re visiting Saint-Émilion.

Nice staff. Busy and rammed full of tourists. The food ... Having been living in Lyon for a month, most places struggle for me. But I think the food here sums up Saint Emilion itself. Trying too hard to impress. Had the fois gras to start. Something that needs very little to let the depth of the flavour shine through was ruined by a ridiculous and very weird crumble topping, some white foam, and cherries in what seemed to be a chilli sauce. I can see Paul Bocuse spinning in his grave. However, the real kicker was the steak tartare. It had obviously been made earlier in the day - an ice cold party of meat where some of the beef had started to darken (the effect over fridging has). The frites were over cooked and dry. By the following afternoon the cramps started, with a night of hanging by the toilet to enjoy). I've had steak tartare many many times and I've never got sick, and my friend had the same starter so....

Lovely food and wine. Staff were very friendly and accommodating for us with a baby in a pram.

First of all, you definitely need to make a reservation; otherwise, it is impossible to find a table. I had some of the best desserts of my life here, and the food was delicious, too. The waiter's wine recommendation even led me to order a second glass. The menu changes daily and is written on a blackboard.

The food was good but expensive, as nothing exceptional. The servers were pleasant, but the service could be more upscale considering the restaurant's level of prestige. The value for money is unappealing!

Nice place with nice food. If you’re not dining in the main saloon the waiters don’t check on whether you need more wine or anything from time to time. Very polite but should be better for a place with these prices.

Visiting Saint-Émilion with my children, who had just arrived from Australia, we had booked a table at this excellent restaurant (it was fully booked) in the hills above this beautiful town. The welcome was pleasant and friendly. The interior is a high-end brasserie style. There's a patio for sunny days. All our regional dishes and desserts were delicious, and the wines (Saint-Émilion and Margaux) were exceptional. Thank you for your kindness and your smile.

Living up to its reputation, attentive staff, great atmosphere. Excellent meal 👌 the lamb shoulder to share was delicious… and our charming table neighbors offered us some lovely wine 🍷 thank you 🙏

A wonderful discovery. The dining room is large but beautifully decorated. The service is efficient, quick, and friendly. The food is absolutely superb; I personally loved the lamb shoulder. The extensive wine list features a wide selection of Saint-Émilion wines, of course. There's a lovely terrace at the back of the restaurant. And at the end, we were offered a limoncello and, for me, a chamomile tea 🤣. We felt so comfortable there that we came back the next day.
