A mixed experience for this second lunch (the first in May 2025 was exceptional).
The setting is splendid and the food truly delicious.
The service, however, was shocking: the waitress was cold and her manner was forced. She noisily placed the water bottle on the dessert spoon. When pouring the wine, she left a trail of drops on the table, without apologizing or wiping them away!?
There were no olives or petits fours with the aperitif.
The meat dishes on both menus lacked variety: only beef. And all the meat in the starters and main courses was raw or just seared: not everyone likes this type of cooking, or beef in particular.
The wine was average (€45 a bottle, though).
Considering the price (€180 for two), we were disappointed this time. We will still come back a 3rd time to give it a second chance, but out of season and we will take a good look at the menu before (and the next customer reviews).

On my way to visit my brother in La Londe-les-Maures, I passed by Fontfroide Abbey again, where I had once had lunch at the restaurant whose owner at the time was a friend: Nicolas de Chevron Villette.
For the past 16 years, as a consultant for a two-Michelin-starred chef, I've rediscovered dishes at the restaurant, still in a pleasant setting, that I thoroughly enjoyed, particularly the squid strips accompanied by a duo of coco and lingot beans in a parsley sauce, red pepper coulis, and crisp fennel. Both the taste and the presentation were perfect (see attached photo). The elegant and trilingual restaurant manager did a great job. The major disappointment came from the wines, which are no longer from the estate next to the abbey, but rather from the famous "Deo Gratias." Dissatisfied, I opted for a non-alcoholic beer.

After visiting the Abbey, what could be better than enjoying the restaurant? The service was very friendly and welcoming. However, I was rather disappointed by the dishes, which lacked character and originality. The desserts, in particular, were lacking; this establishment clearly needs a pastry chef. As a result, the price was a bit high for the quality.

A magnificent discovery in an absolutely exceptional setting!
The restaurant at Fontfroide Abbey is worth the trip alone. From the moment you arrive, the charm of the place takes hold, and the experience continues with the remarkable cuisine. The dishes are as beautiful as they are delicious: refined plates, meticulous presentation, and perfectly balanced flavors. You can feel the genuine attention to detail.
The service is on par with the cuisine: impeccable, attentive, and warm. The staff is incredibly attentive throughout the meal, with great professionalism without ever being stuffy.
Between the majestic setting of Fontfroide, the quality of the food, and the excellence of the service, everything comes together for a truly timeless experience.
An address you'll leave with only one desire: to return! A must-try if you're in the area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Forgotten aperitif... 20 minutes to get our drinks, without any peanuts or anything else. Tiny but excellent starter, the trend for XXL plates!
Main course and desserts were good.
A bit pricey for the quality!
The setting is pleasant. July 22nd, 2 people

We came to Le 89 on the 24th of July while visiting Narbonne and had a really good experience. The place has a nice atmosphere, not too formal but still feels like a proper restaurant. It’s the kind of place where you can sit, enjoy your meal and have a good time without feeling rushed. The food was really good, everything came well presented and the portions were more than enough. I tried the Johnny’s Burger which was really tasty, and my friend had the Caesar salad which he really enjoyed as well. The quality was there and you can see that they care about what they serve. The service was also a big part of why we enjoyed the evening. The staff were friendly, welcoming and always there when needed. The young guy with curly hair and the dark-haired guy were both really nice and had a good energy, they made the atmosphere even better. Overall a great place to stop if you’re in Narbonne. Good food, good service and a nice vibe. Would definitely come back next time I’m in the area.

We tried this restaurant during an evening of entertainment, including a sound and light show. So, a set menu was offered. The venue is magnificent, and the restaurant's decor is lovely. We enjoyed the meal. The food was excellent, and the fish was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were high-quality and expertly prepared. A flawless experience from start to finish. I wouldn't hesitate to repeat the experience, but perhaps in a different setting.

Set menu and light show: €59
Charming restaurant with a lovely terrace. The set menu was decent: two starters, two main courses, and two desserts (the peach melba turned out to be raspberries...). The staff was very pleasant, especially Floriane, who was smiling and professional and made up for the delay in taking orders and serving.
The only downside was the sound and light show at 10 pm, which lasted exactly 20 minutes. Lots of graphic images and very little history of the abbey—very disappointing despite the splendid setting. As we left, the people around us shared the same opinion: very disappointed with the show.
