Quite disappointed compared to the restaurant's website, which really sells a dream...
At aperitif time, there was no Pastis (or anything like it) on a Tuesday because they'd sold out over the weekend: not great for early July in the south. 😕
The set menu, whatever you choose, isn't customizable: it's always starter + main course + dessert. I opted for the "Ardoise" menu because the "Héritage" menu seemed a bit too much.
The starter (the perfect egg with peppers) was good. Then came the swordfish steak with saffron rice, which was okay but nothing special (too greasy, and not enough saffron). Dessert was pistachio ice cream and an apricot tart, which were rather bland.
The staff were friendly, but I still got the feeling I was in a tourist trap.
The price of €34.90 is reasonable, but you get what you pay for, nothing more. In short, apart from the superb location, if you can eat elsewhere you won't be missing much. 😉

For lunch we chose the Heritage Menu. The dishes were refined and beautifully presented, with one small drawback: the cod loin lacked sauce, which was a shame because it was otherwise delicious. The service was impeccable: very professional.
The setting is magnificent.

We had lunch at this restaurant for a bachelor/bachelorette party, and the staff were incredibly generous.
The food was excellent, as was the attentive and meticulous service.
In short, this little restaurant nestled near the abbey is definitely worth a visit to enjoy both the setting and the high-quality ingredients.

Second time at this restaurant, but a feeling of disappointment.
The food is very good, well-prepared, and the atmosphere and setting are nice, but the service was appalling. I'm not one to complain, but here are a few examples:
- The servers don't know the table numbers, so they bring dishes to the wrong tables or bring you dessert when you're waiting for your main course.
- You order meat, and they bring you fish.
- The lady is served last, the gentleman first. That's basic courtesy, isn't it?
- You order an espresso and a decaf, and they bring you a long coffee.
- The head waiter yells at the server in front of you.
- The upside is that it creates a bond with your table neighbors, who laugh with you.
- When the bill arrives, I politely mention that the service wasn't great, and there's no apology; it's the kitchen's fault! The complimentary coffee, even though I didn't ask for it, would have been nice, especially considering the bill was nearly €100 for two people. Come on, a little more effort and maybe we'll come back ;-)

We received a warm welcome; the staff were impeccably dressed and exuded a refined elegance, perfectly in keeping with the setting and the cuisine.
The dishes were generous and elegant. My only regret was not having had two more minutes to peruse the wine list. The wine recommendation was rushed compared to the extensive selection of wines produced on-site. It was especially frustrating not to have considered individual preferences: I would have appreciated the opportunity to suggest that we preferred contrasting pairings rather than harmonious ones (even though the recommended and chosen wine was delicious).
But we will definitely be back!

After a lovely time visiting the abbey, what better way to continue this beautiful day than with lunch? We had a delicious meal. The service was impeccable despite the restaurant being full, all the dishes were tasty, and the staff were friendly. After that, a good walk and a good night's sleep—a beautiful day completed, wouldn't you say? 🙂

I had the pleasure of dining with my family at La Table de Fontfroide, and the experience was, overall, very enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome, with attentive and efficient service throughout the meal, and no excessive waiting between courses.
The setting is undoubtedly one of this restaurant's greatest assets: dining in the heart of a Benedictine abbey founded at the end of the 11th century creates a unique atmosphere, both peaceful and steeped in history. The surroundings contribute fully to the experience.
Dinner was offered as a set menu for €42, showcasing Mediterranean cuisine with a contemporary twist. Some combinations were particularly original and successful, such as the olive oil sorbet, which added a surprising and refined touch.
However, a few aspects could be improved. The rack of lamb, while flavorful, was unfortunately quite fatty, which slightly detracted from the overall enjoyment. Furthermore, the artichoke side dish was rather stingy.
In short, a lovely restaurant well worth a visit for its exceptional setting and inventive cuisine, despite a few minor adjustments that could be made to some dishes.
