Le Refuge du Calvaire

15/12/2024: No trip to Megève is complete for us without an evening at the Refuge du Calvaire. This is our ‘go to’ place for fondue and raclette. On our recent visit however we chose to have steaks and both the Chateaubriand filet and the Argentine Angus were superb. Desserts were delicious, especially the Crepe Suzette which was prepared at the table with all due drama. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the welcome is genuine. A firm favourite of visitors and locals alike.
13/12/2024: No trip to Megève is complete for us without an evening spent at the Refuge du Calvaire. The welcome is warm and the restaurant is a favourite of visitors and locals alike. (Our fellow diners consisted of a large table of local mountain guides on a ‘works’ night out!) The fondue, raclette and other local dishes are delicious. Last evening, however, we chose to have steaks and both the ‘Chateaubriand’ filet and Argentine Angus were excellent. Desserts were amazing especially the Crèpe Suzette which was prepared with all due drama at the table. We eat at this restaurant regularly and recommend it highly.

27/01/2025: Don’t let the name of the restaurant put you off, because, spoiler alert, it’s one of the best restaurants in Megève! 🍽️" Nestled in the Le Vieux Moulin hotel, just a stone's throw from the village center, Le Restaunome is good. The chef, a wonderful guy from the south of France, brings a little sunny accent to already well-mastered mountain cuisine. Here, everything is made with local, ultra-fresh products, and chosen with care. The new Director is young and handsome and wants to do well, it shows And frankly, it’s probably the best value for money in all of Megève. The atmosphere? Yes, a bit dated, but we don't care when you eat so well for such a price. If you're the type who favors the plate over the curtains, go for it. An unbeatable restaurant for foodies!
